Great battery life has always been a hallmark of Nintendo hand-held systems. The Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and the DS all outpaced their competition by a wide margin. The DSI XL for instance, has a battery life It made it good to know that you won’t have to constantly keep it in the charger or swap batteries every time you wanted to take it on the go.
Then came the Nintendo 3DS.
According to a post on Joystiq, Nintendo has revealed that the battery life for the 3DS will only be 3-5 hours. On the lower end, that may last you one round trip on your daily commute using public transit. I understand that the 3DS needs a lot of juice to run more technically demanding games (not to mention a 3D screen), but 3-5 hours is not that good for a portable gaming device.
I still plan on buying one, but it’s disappointing to hear that it’s going to run out of juice quickly.
