Getting featured on the front page of WordPress.com was awesome. Getting featured on the Marquette University Law School Faculty Blog? Highly unexpected, but also awesome. Why would a university law school want anything to do with In Third Person?
As someone whose closest legal experience is beating Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, being cited in by Marquette University Law School is still crazy to me. However, I’m glad that someone with a better understanding of law respects my perspective in regards to the Lineage II lawsuit. Author and Associate Professor of Law Edward A. Fallone had this to say about it:
A thoughtful and sympathetic response to the lawsuit can be found on the blog In Third Person. While doubting the legal merits of the plaintiff’s claim, the author of the post (a self-proclaimed ”20 year gamer”) points out the important distinction between substance addiction and behavioral addiction. This distinction is not trivial, and it may ultimately limit the legal liability of the software company.
I don’t plan on dropping my current line of work to pursue law after this, but I’m glad that I wasn’t completely off base when I wrote that piece. I still feel very strongly about the grounds this case will be built or thrown out on, as it’s a weird situation all around. If you haven’t read my post yet, you can check that out here. Also, I recommend you check out Marquette’s Law School Faculty Blog, as it seems like a great resource for law students or anyone interested in legal matters.

Nice blog, keep going 🙂
