Over the last few months, I haven’t done too much in the way of iPod Touch/iPhone gaming. Most of my gaming time of late has been dedicated to my PlayStation 3 when I’ve have time to spare. However, my car recently broke down, which meant I’ve spent a lot more time on public transportation over the last few days. It’s been a great opportunity to catch up on Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night, which is worth grabbing at regular price, but is on sale right now for a limited time.
Speaking of sales, iTunes has a bunch of games on sale right now. I grabbed a few games that have gotten a lot of positive buzz. Here’s what I got:

Zombie Infection
I’ve heard good things about this Resident Evil 5 knock-off from Gameloft. At the very least, I’ve heard that it’s notably better than the disappointing Resident Evil 4 games on the iPhone and iPad. Since the real deal wasn’t enough to satisfy my desire for this style of game, I’ll try this one out instead.

Mirror’s Edge
In spite of my sour impressions of the first Mirror’s Edge game, most of my dislike came from the execution of it, rather than the ideas behind it. Mirror’s Edge on iPhone and iPad puts a new spin on the original, by making it a Canabalt-style game. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but I’m hoping this game focuses more on the acrobatics than the combat.

Osmos
What is the deal with Osmos? I don’t know too much about the game, other than every iPhone and iPad media outlet seems to think this is the best game out right now. I figure at $1, I’ll take a chance on it just to see what the hype is about.

Bit.Trip Beat
The Bit.Trip series has garnered a lot of positive buzz since it made a splash on Wii Ware. I’ve been meaning to try the series out, but I didn’t want to play those styles of games in front of my TV. Behold, the iPhone and iPad editions, which are on sale for a limited time. Since the iPhone version isn’t compatible with my first generation iPod Touch, I grabbed the iPad version instead.
Look out for impressions or reviews for these games on In Third Person at some point in the future. If you’ve already played any of these games, what do you think of them? Did I do the right thing?
