For the last few months, I’ve been kicking around the idea of writing a series of 2010 year in review posts to wrap things up. In my head, I thought the idea was great. When it actually came down to translating those thoughts into posts, it got a bit dicey.
My very first idea was, “2010 Year in Review: The Best Year Ever for Video Games?”. I wanted to look at the entire industry and compare how awesome it was in relation to every year before it. I soon realized that I did not have the knowledge or motivation to tackle such a grand topic without it not meeting my expectations.
Instead of broadening my scope beyond my reach, I’ll instead do what I do best: write what I know from my perspective. These posts will be far from comprehensive, but keeping the scale small ensures that I can write better posts without arbitrarily writing about stuff I don’t know for the sake of covering everything. Some of the ideas for posts I’ve been kicking around include game of the year talk, my pile of shame, the iPad as a gaming device (so far), best of In Third Person, and some sort of Girlfriend Gaming wrap-up. This list is subject to grow (or shrink), depending on my creativity, motivation and time available to me.
Besides, that’s been my approach to this entire blog from the start. I can’t beat IGN or Gamespot at what they do. But they can’t beat me at being me. Expect some cool 2010 year in review features on In Third Person in the coming days!
