I don’t know what to say really, other than I feel like some titles were overly appreciated, some were under appreciated and a lot didn’t get the kind of recognition they deserve. I down that with the buffoons of the gaming community that plague the comment section of all my favourite sites. Sorry to be pessimistic but I usually don’t care to discuss things openly because a lot of people always let their opinions get the better of them. If it were up to me this award would never exist and all games are loved based solely on their quality or what they bring to the table. Lets be rational here. Skyrim in a nutshell is “You shouldn’t have come here”, a lot of it is fantasy cliché at it’s most basic form. I don’t mean to call it bad or say it’s anything less than one of the very best games of the year but it is deeply flawed with it’s combat, story telling, quest design, enemies, functionality and does little to overcome these. How can you play that for the rest of your life without having your concious altered in some way before hand.

Sorry about that Jett but your comment section is a great place to blow off steam. To answer your question, I say that LA Noire deserved better recognition even though the ending was pretty underwhelming, it gave a lot to gaming and is the first game to ever be in a film festival for crying out loud! It was definitely flawed but undoubtedly overcame all of it’s shortcomings. Also, I think that Super Mario 3D land deserved more recognition and praise. Same goes for Xenoblade. I can’t think of any more titles that belong on that unfortunate list but I’m certain that there are more.
