With Watch Dogs Delayed to 2014, What Do Play On My Launch PlayStation 4 Now?

Mere weeks before its release, Ubisoft pulled the plug on its November launch plans for Watch Dogs and bumped the game into 2014. As someone with a PlayStation 4 pre-order, this is a real bummer. This was going to be my definitive launch-day experience, not to mention the only game in the lineup that I had any real interest in.

In absence of that, what am I going to get alongside of my shiny new system? There are a few games I know I want to play, such as NBA 2K14, but I feel like a cross-gen sports title is far from the ideal next-gen experience. Or, I could take a chance on a big-time console exclusive, such as Killzone: Shadow Fall, but I didn’t like Killzone 2. Many are quick to recommend Resogun, but that’s basically a given at this point, as it’ll be free for PlayStation Plus members during the launch window. Also, knowing me, I probably won’t get nearly as much out of it as most others cause it’s just not my thing.

If I wasn’t such a sucker for shiny new things, I’d probably just let my PlayStation 4 pre-order go. Instead, I will pick one up, likely throw $60 at a game that may or may not fill Watch Dogs‘ shoes, then watch the system collect dust during its inevitable post-launch drought. Is anyone else in the same predicament?

That’s my issue too. I hadn’t pre-ordered Watch Dogs yet, and I wasn’t really interested in it until recently. But now I don’t know what I’ll get if anything (I’m leaning towards AC4, but I’ll wait for reviews).

I’m kind of hoping they have some good PSN deals on new PS4 indie games. I’m afraid I’ll end up playing a few demos, watching a few trailers, and then buying a game I don’t really care about just to play around with the Share button.

I’m super excited about the PS4 though. I just hope something will come out this holiday season to interest me.

I’m still excited for the console too. However, I’m looking at all of the games slated for launch and the “launch window”, and for me, it’s looking grim. Almost Wii U bad, if not worse in terms of games I actually want to play. I may have a high-tech paperweight for the next few months while I keep my current gen systems hooked up to work through my backlog.
