Sagat Confirmed (and Dee Jay Leaked) for iPhone Street Fighter IV

Capcom keeps on making one of the best iPhone games even better. Recently, they formally announced that Sagat would be making his way to the iPhone version of Street Fighter IV, along with a few system updates. As with the other major updates to this game, Sagat and the other updates will be free of charge.

In the process, they accidently released a picture of an unannounced character. That, or this is a really awesome Photoshop job for a game that people aren’t following that seriously.

Despite a formal confirmation from Capcom, let’s just say that Sagat and Dee Jay are confirmed to be coming soon to the iPhone version of Street Fighter IV.

Sagat to me is a no-brainer addition to the game. He’s a very popular character in the series, and was one of the most popular characters in the regular edition of Street Fighter IV (mostly because he was crazy over-powered). Unfortunately for Sagat fans, he got nerfed in Super Street Fighter IV. He’s still a good character, but his popularity dropped dramatically, especially among players who only use the best characters in a fighting game. It remains to be seen which version of Sagat we’ll get, considering the fact that Capcom has implemented Super Street Fighter IV elements into this regular Street Fighter IV iteration in the past.

Dee Jay is a really odd choice to me. I understand that he was one of the characters who existed during the Super Street Fighter II days, but I don’t think he was that popular then and he sure isn’t now. I’ve heard that Dee Jay is pretty good in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but he doesn’t even have that going for him in Super Street Fighter IV. If I were to draw from the Super II days, I would have gone with Fei Long instead.

In any case, much respect to Capcom for continuing to support this great game. I may not be the biggest Dee Jay fan in the world, but to almost double the cast for free is nothing to scoff at. I know the game is expensive by iPhone standards, but the value proposition here is ridiculous. If you have the slightest itch to play Street Fighter on the go, this is the way to do it.
