Super Street Fighter IV is the First Confirmed Nintendo 3DS Launch Game

A lot of Nintendo 3DS news has been flowing out of a Nintendo-hosted event in New York City. The system has been confirmed to come out on March 27th, 2011 in North America. It’s going to cost $250. It’s also going to have 30+ games by June.

While Nintendo was hazy about the exact release dates for those 30+ games, Capcom wasted no time in revealing that Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition will be a Nintendo 3DS launch title in North America. As if me buying a Nintendo 3DS on launch wasn’t sure enough, Capcom has sealed the deal.

As someone who owns Street Fighter IV, two copies of Super Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter IV on the iPhone, you’d think that spending over 500 hours across all of those versions would be enough. What you don’t know is (or maybe you do), is that I’m crazy for Street Fighter IV. I love the heck out of that series and I think I could play this forever if it was the last Street Fighter game ever made.

Am I excited for anything in particular with the Nintendo 3DS version, other than the fact that it’s Street Fighter IV? Well, I’m excited to have the full Super Street Fighter IV experience on the go, as the iPhone version lacks a number of characters and if you’re really nit-picky, is not as true to the real thing as the 3DS version will be. Seeing it in 3D with the new camera angle seems cool as well. I don’t think I’ll invest hundreds of hours online like I have with the console versions, but having online play available on the 3DS is nice to have.

I’m hoping to see more good games for launch, but if I’m only getting Super Street Fighter IV, I’ll be happy. I know I’m going to love it and play the heck out of it. What launch window 3DS games are you looking forward to?
