Jett’s Open Letter to Santa: 2011 Edition

Dear Santa,

First off, on behalf of the people of the world, thank you so much for your ongoing efforts to make this world a joyous place during the holiday season.

With the noble stuff out of the way, let me get greedy for a minute. Though I feel selfish, especially at this point in my life, I guess I’m still entitled to receive something from you as long as I’ve been a good boy this year, right? If so, can I give you a few gaming-related suggestions in no particular order?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Yes Santa, I was in fact not one of the projected 20 million people to buy this game this year. I may not have the rabid fandom towards the series like many others do, but it’s not because I don’t appreciate the quality of the games. I had a blast with Modern Warfare 1 and 2, and I’m ready to shoot dudes again in that world.

The Super Mario 3DS Games

You know as well as I do Santa that I don’t play my Nintendo 3DS much. I would definitely play it more though if there were more great games to play on it. Thankfully, this holiday season includes Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, both of which I’ve been looking forward to for months. You can never go wrong with Mario, right?

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection

I missed out on these when they were originally released on the PlayStation 2. Now that they’re out on the PlayStation 3, I would love to experience these games for the first time to see what the hype is about. Please don’t spoil the story for either of these games to me Santa, as I’ve heard that the stories are a big part of why these games are awesome.

Rayman Origins

It’s been a long time since Rayman has gone back to his 2D platforming roots. It’s been even longer since I last played a Rayman platformer. The last time I played a Rayman platformer was back in the mid-90s, when I played the original Rayman on PC. With that said, I love the current era of 2D platforms, as games like New Super Mario Bros Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirby’s Epic Yarn have all brought forth unique elements to the classic 2D platformer genre. Based on what I’ve seen and read about Rayman Origins, I would love to find this underneath my Christmas tree.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

While I did not get The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as a Christmas present last year, that game and Wii Sports defined my holidays back in 2006. The Wii had launched that year, and those first few weeks with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess were magical for me. Am I ready to jump back into Hyrule and save the world yet again? Absolutely. I think it would be a great last hurrah for my Wii, before I write to you again and ask you for a Wii U. Your elves are already making one for me, right?
