This is it. After 4 episodes of strife, the conclusion to The Walking Dead is upon us. Writing reviews for this particular franchise has proven difficult, as basically everything is a spoiler. Now that we’re at the conclusion, pretty much everything I could say is going to spoil something. I guess ultimately, I need to answer the burning question: does the series end on a high note?
Yes. Yes it does.
This episode moves very quickly. It’s got a lot of story threads to close off, which it does in mostly convincing, and sometimes shocking fashion. I think the episode is also a bit shorter than the others, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
What players are ultimately looking for is the payoff and closure at the end, which it delivers on huge. The entire final hour of that game is arguably the highlight of the series. By the end, it made me feel emotions that games rarely ever make me feel.
Now that the series is wrapped up, I can comfortably say that The Walking Dead is a bonafide game of the year contender. It’s been an amazing ride that captivated me like no other game did this year. I cannot recommend this game enough.
