A Nod to Image & Form, the Makers of the SteamWorld Series

Having just purchased a Humble Bundle, my friend JJ found himself with an extra copy of SteamWorld Dig on the Nintendo 3DS. He was gracious enough to offer me the code. Then I forgot a out it for awhile.

Eventually, I found myself sitting on a train to Montreal with nothing to do. Firing up SteamWorld Dig for the first time, time melted away as I tore through their brilliant take on the Metroidvania genre. As the train pulled into Montreal, I was actually mad that I didn’t have a few extra minutes to wrap things up.

Thus began my love affair with Image & Form, the brilliant minds behind the SteamWorld series.

Dead Cells Review

Heralded by many as one of the best games of 2018, I wasn’t quite ready at the time to take on Dead Cells at the time. Spooked by the game’s Roguelike/Roguelite elements, it’s taken me a long time to warm up to the idea of playing a game where the goal was to beat it in one go or lose everything. Games like Into the Breach, 20XX, and Moonlighter have shown me how fun the format can be and how the concept has evolved to be somewhat less punishing.

I have lost count of how many times I’ve died trying to complete the story of Dead Cells. Even so, that hasn’t stopped me from being absolutely addicted to it.

The Paranormal Productions Level in Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a Box Office Smash

As we discussed yesterday, I’m gradually chipping away at Luigi’s Mansion 3. The game is pretty great so far, but there’s one particular section I really want to talk that can’t wait until my full review.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

The Intro to Luigiā€™s Mansion 3 Showcases the Super Mario Universe in a New Light

[NOTE: I try my best to avoid spoilers]

Confession: I’m not very far in Luigi’s Mansion 3. Was hoping to be done before the launch, but life has a funny way of stifling one’s gaming time. For now, it takes a seat at the top of my backlog as Pokemon Sword and Shield take precedence. From the bit I’ve played, I can definitively tell you this one thing: its opening sequence is really special.
