Having just finished Vol. 4 of the New 52 Wonder Woman series, the news of writer Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang ending their run on the series to be heartbreaking. This knowledge has been known since February, though I actually didn’t know about it until I went looking for the release date of the next edition.
Their work with Wonder Woman went well beyond making me take notice for a character I largely ignored my entire life. After reading Vol. 1: Blood, the stories of Diana Prince have been some of my favourites. Every issue with the duo involved was awesome while giving me a whole new appreciation for the character.
Wonder Woman Vol. 5 isn’t slated to come out until October, but you can catch the final issues as they’re released right now. Thank you Brian and Cliff for all of the wonderful work you’ve done on this series to-date and for the remaining work left on your plate. Truly appreciated. Here’s to hoping that they can continue with their excellent work on new projects while Diana Prince continues her momentum with a new creative team.
