Though the In Third Person audience is primarily American, it doesn’t hurt to give a nod to my home and native land on its special day. To all of In Third Person’s Canadian readers, happy Canada Day!

Off-Topic: Pacquiao vs. Bradley

Where was I on the day boxing died?
I was with my family, watching Manny Pacquiao out-class Timothy Bradley, only to be rewarded with a controversial loss due to split decision.
A Correlation Between Cooking and Video Games

For the past few months I’ve been making an honest effort to learn how to cook. Though my first few efforts were mediocre at best, I’ve definitely stepped up my game. Though I am far from an Iron Chef, it feels liberating to know that I’m in a place now where I can actually cook real food. One day, I hope that I’m good enough as a chef that I can make a decent meal on the fly with whatever ingredients and cooking tools I have at my disposal.
Though cooking can be a time-intensive process, that hasn’t bogged down my enjoyment of the process, which I enjoy quite a bit. Why? Oddly, I’ve been able to draw a connection between my enjoyment of cooking and enjoyment of video games.
Off-Topic – Misadventures of a Newbie Chef Day 2

After completing my day 1 meal, I texted a picture of it to my mom and told her how it turned out. She laughed at my results and responded back with one of her signature dishes for me to try out. With Steff gone for the night to watch the midnight premiere screening of the Hunger Games, I was once again on my own for dinner. Did I have what it took to make her chicken with mushroom cream sauce?
Off-Topic – The Misadventures of a Newbie Chef: Day 1

If life were an RPG, and you were to analyze how my life skill points have been allocated, it would be clear that I’ve done some min-maxing. While I may be a pretty good video game player, I can’t cook. Having grown up in a family where my mom was a pro-star chef, I’m not afraid to admit that I took advantage of her cooking skills for all that it was worth. Left to my own devices, I couldn’t cook a Pop Tart without it burning and shattering into pieces in the toaster. If you’re wondering, yes, I actually did screw up a Pop Tart not too long ago to the point where I had to turn my toaster upside down to dump the charred remains of a burnt Pop Tart.
With that said, I made a commitment to myself that I would at least make an honest effort to figure this cooking thing out the moment I moved out on my own. Not too long ago, I went through a 3-night stretch where I had to fend for myself in order to eat dinner. I could have settled for fast food or a microwavable dinner, but I decided to grow up and try this cooking thing for real. With the limited cooking skills I have, was I able to turn anything around that didn’t completely suck?
I’m Back! (Sort of)

Hey everyone!
It’s been a crazy few weeks for Steff and I with the move. With that said, I’m glad to report that we’ve successfully moved all of our stuff into the new place.
Though the hard part is out of the way, there’s definitely still work to be done. It’s probably going to take us a few weeks before we’re fully functioning.
As for the blog, I’ll do the best I can to keep things going. Realistically, there’s a lot of work to be done at home for the next little while, and I don’t have a stable enough internet connection here yet for any online gaming, so there may be a dip in content frequency. I’ll do my best to keep this going for you 🙂
Anywho, I am off for now. Stay tuned for more gaming posts in the future!
Off-Topic: On The Move

Today’s our big day! Steff and I will be moving into our new place. These next few days will be quite hectic, as we’ll be going through the process of setting everything up (including internet access). The amount of time I can spend on In Third Person for the time being could be compressed, but fret not. I have some posts scheduled to go for the time being, and I’m hoping to at least get back into the swing of things to talk about my two most anticipated games of the year: Mass Effect 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken, both of which are out on the same day.
Till then, I’ll get back to packing the moving truck. See you all soon!
Off-Topic: Adventures in Apartment Hunting Part 2
After our first two appointments, particularly the second one, Steff and I were feeling pretty low about our search. While there are always hundreds of apartment listings available in the area we were looking for, the two we thought were great didn’t live up to our expectations and we were concerned that things wouldn’t get better.
For our next two appointments, we decided to check out some condos. Would we have better luck with the condos than we did with the houses?
Off Topic: Super Bowl XLVI

Are you ready for some football?
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not much of a football fan, but I make time every year to watch the big game. This year, I’ll be watching the game from Steff’s place, as she and her sister are hosting a Super Bowl party. I’m looking forward to spending time with good company while watching the New York Giants pummel the New England Patriots*.
Off-Topic: Back From Raptors Centre Court
I’m with Steff at the Toronto Raptors game and I just got back from centre court. I just played in the Cash Machine contest, where I had to catch flying money then hit a 3-pointer to triple my bucks.
Thank you Toronto Raptors! Video coming soon!
