Phoenix Wright Revealed in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Yes! After months of waiting, Phoenix Wright has been finally revealed in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. As a huge fan of the Phoenix Wright series, I was really excited/curious to see how Capcom would incorporate a non-violent lawyer into a fighting game with super heroes and other-worldly fighting machines, but the new trailer has answered my questions. Hit the jump to see the first glimpse of Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3!

Just by watching the video, it’s obvious that Phoenix Wright is about as ridiculous of a fit as you’d expect, which is a great thing. I’m glad that Capcom tried their hardest to stay true to the original character rather than giving him a bunch of fighting attacks that take him out of character. Adding Maya to some of his moves is also a nice touch.

The interesting thing about Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the unique gameplay mechanic he has around evidence. From what I’ve read around the internet, as you fight, you can collect evidence, some of which may be good and kept, while bad evidence can be used as a projectile. If you get three good pieces of evidence, you can then hit your opponent with the ‘Objection!’ and land his level 3 hyper combo (GIF below), which is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in life.

I can’t wait to get my hands on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to give Phoenix Wright a whirl. It’s too early for me to commit to having him on one of my main teams, but he sure looks like he’ll be a lot of fun to play, especially for fans of the Phoenix Wright games. November 15 can’t come soon enough.
