The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner Review

After months of pain and suffering, our ragtag group of survivors have finally reached their promise land. All that stands between them and freedom is a boat. Or at least that’s the hope upon arrival. Spoilers: it’s not that easy.

The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner focuses on the city of Savannah. Kenny in particular had high hopes that this would be the perfect point of escape from the zombie apocalypse. However, this city has fallen like all of the others, while a splinter group of humans have gone to extreme measures to stay alive. Meanwhile, an elusive figure continues make himself known, though his intentions still aren’t clear.

Unlike episode 3, which piled on revelation after revelation, the drama takes a bit of a back seat to the overall forward momentum of the story. This episode has a lot of action, and felt like the longest to date. It is an interesting change of pace, though the lack of ‘stop and smell the roses’ moments was kind of a bummer. I think the series is best when it really gives you time to wrap your head around the gravity of the situation, which there isn’t as much room for it here.

With that said, I still enjoyed playing through it, and the real payoff comes at the end. Based on how this episode wraps up, I have some grave concerns over how this will all pan out. Here’s to hoping that Telltale Games can close this series out with an amazing final act.
