Coming Soon: Street Fighter X Tekken Version 2013

Up to this point, this match made in fighting game heaven has been anything but. Having lost many of its potential fans through the on-disc DLC debacle, and a myriad of gameplay issues (among other things), this seemingly sure-fire hit has been the biggest bust in the genre for quite some time.

With that said, fighting games always evolve. From Street Fighter II to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, it can take a few iterations before perfection is found. Capcom is hoping that they get it right the second time with Street Fighter X Tekken Version 2013, which is a free major patch being introduced tomorrow.

Version 2013 features a plethora of balance changes to characters and overall gameplay systems in order to make things more interesting. Much of these changes has been well documented elsewhere, so I won’t regurgitate them here. However, I’m very curious to see how this all pans out. I really liked the game when it first came out, and it wasn’t until time passed when its flaws revealed themselves. Though I haven’t played much of this in months, I’m really hoping that Capcom can finally turn this franchise around with this latest patch.

It’s improved but many of the same problems remain. The system mechanics are just funky.

I’ve been playing it some. What specifically about the system mechanics do you find funky? I sort of agree with you, but have a hard time articulating why that is, other than “it doesn’t feel like Street Fighter IV”, which isn’t fair to SFxT.
