Rumors are swirling about Capcom revealing Marvel vs. Capcom 4 at PlayStation Experience this weekend. Without much in the way of substantial evidence, I’m not holding my breath. However, should this be true, here are some characters I want to see in this game!

Rashid
A newcomer introduced in Street Fighter V, his play style and move set are an ideal fit for Marvel vs. Capcom. In particular, he can create an endless number of mix-ups with his V-Trigger tornado, a staple of the MvC series. If anyone from the new cast is going to make it, Rashid is a shoo-in.

Silk
Bitten by the same spider that gave Peter Parker his powers, Cindy Moon’s life took a very different arc. She was essentially locked up for years in a story we’ll explain for another time, but now she’s out and she’s awesome. This one is a dark horse pick, since she’s similar to Spider-Man. Also, if Marvel and Capcom were to include another Spider-like character, they’d go with the wildly popular Spider-Gwen. Personally, I’m a much bigger fan of Silk’s comic series, so she gets my vote.

Asura
The angriest guy in the Capcom universe also partook in some of the most epic battles in the under-the-radar release Asura’s Wrath. His incredible fighting powers would work amazingly well in this bombastic fighting franchise. Furthermore, he’s already made his fighting game debut, so the transition shouldn’t be that difficult. Seriously though, if you haven’t played Asura’s Wrath yet, pick it up from the bargain bin. You’re in for a treat!

Kamala Khan
The modern Ms. Marvel is my favourite thing going in the current Marvel comic universe. Oozing with charm and cool powers, she captures the essence of what Spider-Man used to be in the 1960s for today’s audience. It doesn’t help that she’s also wildly popular and the face of an increasingly-diverse comic landscape. It would be a travesty if she were left out of a potential crossover game.

Mega Man
Fans did not take kindly to Mega Man’s exclusion from Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Capcom even trolled fans by giving Zero a Mega Man X costume. Zero was great and I’m all for his return, but Mega Man has to come back. Having just appeared as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4, it doesn’t appear like there’s anything stopping the Blue Bomber from being included.

Luke Skywalker
Wait, what? Luke Skywalker is Star Wars!
…which is now owned by Disney, the same company that owns Marvel. Who coincidentally, is the publisher for the successful line of Star Wars comic books. Since the parent company owns all of the rights, the inclusion of characters from this storied sci-fi franchise doesn’t seem that farfetched. Make it so, Marvel and Capcom!
We’ll find out in just a few days if the rumor mill was right on the existence of Marvel vs. Capcom 4. If this is real, who do you want to see make an appearance in this crossover fighter?

Great list. It’ll be interesting to see how the success of the various MCU movies may have influenced what characters end up being in this game. It’d be pretty neat to have The Winter Soldier as a character choice, and Mega Man NEEDS to be back in there!
Thanks for the comment!
The MCU is likely to have a huge impact on the roster, as it did in MvC 3. Can’t find the articles now, but I remember reading specifically that Doctor Strange was included to help promote the movie, which ironically only came out this year.
The scary part of the the MCU influence is the possibility of no X-Men characters in the game due to Marvel’s dispute with Fox. This may have just been speculation from the author at Polygon, but based on Marvel’s actions over the years to downplay the mutants, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true.

I want a new Marvel game real bad, but the X-Men were such a huge part of that experience to the point that this whole crossover started as X-Men vs. Street Fighter. On top of that, my MvC team is all X-Men characters (Wolverine/Storm/Sentinel). Fingers crossed that if this game is indeed real, that there is an X-Men presence on the character select screen.
Yeah, not having Cable or Wolverine in the game would be terrible. I know the MCU will influence the game quite a bit, but here’s to hoping that the rumors are false, and that the Sony and Fox owned Marvel characters still make it it.
