The Year-Plus Posting Streak Ends Tomorrow

This is how it ends.

No, In Third Person isn’t going away. But the 391-day posting streak is going to end tomorrow. Oh well.

For the record, posting daily was never part of my plan. After building a backlog of posts last year, I decided to go daily just to keep the rotation fresh.

It ultimately didn’t help with my analytics at all in case you were wondering if daily posts are a viable way of improving one’s blog traffic. Traffic right now is better than ever, but that’s almost entirely off the strength of posts that have caught fire within the Google algorithm.

If analytics are your primary performance metric, write content that people are looking for on Google and properly tag your posts. That said, if writing for an algorithm doesn’t align with your soul, then writing for numbers will crush your spirit.

Thankfully, the posts that are hot for me right now are streaming guides with information that I was really excited to share with the world. Glad to see the demand for these types of posts! I will keep writing this type of content as long as I’m interested in sharing the little knowledge of streaming I have.

Now back to the whole streak thing…

Now is actually a really bad time for me to drop the ball. I have no shortage of things to write about, such as Fuser, Hades and everything relating to my early PlayStation 5 experiences. However, the stress of trying to maintain the streak simply isn’t worth the stress it’s putting on me to keep it going.

For much of this stretch, I’ve been able to maintain a two-week buffer on posts. However, the combination of Extra Life marathon prep and post-marathon fulfilment duties have prevented me from maintaining my pace.

In the grand scheme of things, I’d much rather write these thank you notes to donors than to write posts. Your generous donations are going to help children in need and you deserve my attention more than you need my thoughts on how Astro’s Playroom is a surprisingly-cool game.

NOTE: Astro’s Playroom is actually a cool game and we’ll get it eventually.

And with so many of you choosing to donate at one of the three reward tiers, I’ve got a few dozen personalized thank you notes that I’ll be writing over the next few days. Can’t wait to send all of the art and these thank you notes your way when they’re ready! But for me to get these done in a timely manner, I’ve got to put the blog output on pause momentarily.

Thank you for your support over the years! I truly appreciate you for coming by this slice of the internet and I hope you always get value from it. Let me take the next few days to complete the fulfilment of Extra Life rewards and I’ll be back when I’m ready! If you miss me, you can still catch me on Twitch at my regular times. Check out the schedule in the sidebar and I hope to see you soon!
