A few weeks back, Capcom Arcade updated its lineup of games to include Street Fighter II: Championship Edition. If you bought Street Fighter II like I did, you should feel burned, because this makes your purchase obsolete. However, you also should have seen this coming.
Street Fighter II: Championship Edition is an update to the original Street Fighter II. The most notable change is the ability to play as the four original boss characters and the ability to run mirror matches. The iPhone port of this is handled the same way as the original, so you can head over there to see how I thought it performed.
The only major thing worth noting is that Championship Edition is $1.99, which is $1 less than Street Fighter II. If you need to buy one of the two, Championship Edition is the clear winner. Just know that there are at least three more versions of Street Fighter II that could be made available on the service, which will make your previous purchases obsolete. I will buy all of them, because I’m a die-hard Street Fighter fan (and a fool). However, if you can’t settle for the free-to-play versions of these games and just want the best, I’d recommend you go with either Street Fighter II Turbo or Super Street Fighter II Turbo, if/when those eventually get released.
