Humans are creatures of habit. We stick with what we know and we generally don’t like to deviate from that. However, you’ll never know what awesome things you’re missing out on if you don’t reach outside of your comfort zone. One of my favourite examples of me reaching out of my comfort zone has nothing to do with games. Just over a year ago, my girlfriend Steff introduced me to Thai food. Mmm…
As far as games go, the biggest jump I made out of my comfort zone in recent memory was Mass Effect. Having heard so many great things about this series, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give this action RPG a shot. Needless to say, it made quite the impression on me.

Dragon Age: Origins is a step even farther into uncomfortable territory for me. Hardcore western RPGs in the style of Baldur’s Gate are something I’ve never really tried before. However, BioWare has won a lot of good will with me based on the Mass Effect series, and I’m hoping that this is another great one from them. It also doesn’t hurt that I was able to pick this up for $15.
I’ve reviewed a number of games during the past few weeks, but I still have many more to work my way through. I’m not making any promises, but I’m hoping I can get around to it before March 8, 2011, when Dragon Age 2 comes out. Stay tuned to In Third Person for more reviews and video game discussion!
