Welcome to episode 3 of Jett Vs., a series of blog posts where I post one of my Super Street Fighter IV match videos and analyze it for your viewing and reading pleasure. This series has been on hiatus for a while because, well, no one cared for this feature and I have the analytics to back that sentiment up.
However, I couldn’t help but share this one particular match with you. If you care to check it out, click through and see the rest of this post.

About Rose vs. Ryu
According to the latest IPLAYWINNER tier list, Rose vs. Ryu is a 4-6 in Ryu’s favour. As a Rose player, I don’t necessarily feel like I’m at a disadvantage in this match-up, but I can see where they’re coming from. My guess is that they’ve given the edge to Ryu due to his overall better damage output, zoning game and better fireball.
I’ve been playing Rose a lot lately. I’m starting to find that she really fits my play-style and I’ve had a lot of success with her of late. I’m almost comfortable enough to take her into a fight against anyone, rather than resorting to my main guy, Akuma.
The Match
In this bout, I’m up against a great Ryu player. In this match, he demonstrates his ability to mix me up and his overall better execution. He hits some pretty tight links for big damage and FADCs a few times to good effect. However, his execution fails him at two key points in the fight, which I take full advantage of. In the first round, had he finished that fierce punch into uppercut combo, I would have been dead. Instead, he left a sliver of opportunity open for me, which I blew wide open. I thought I played really smartly during that comeback, though it didn’t hurt that he essentially stopped blocking in hopes of just finishing me off. As for the second round, it was a close one. He should have won, but I had luck on my side again. If he had waited a split second longer to throw me, things could have turned out differently.
The rush I felt after winning that first round was one I haven’t felt with Street Fighter in a while. Comebacks that big aren’t easy, but they can be done. Odds are though, I won’t be so lucky if I ever cross paths with this guy again.
