We’re Going to Fan Expo Canada 2011

Last year, my girlfriend Steff and I had a blast at Fan Expo. It was the first convention we ever went to, and we told ourselves very early on that we have to do this all over again next year. If you’re interested in reading up on our exploits last year, check out the posts below:

Day 1
Day 2

Day 3

With the 2011 edition of the show approaching in a matter of weeks, we already have our tickets and are getting pumped for the ensuing awesomeness.

If you’re not familiar with Fan Expo Canada, it’s essentially Canada’s Comic-Con, with a focus on comics, sci-fi, horror, gaming and anime. Gaming isn’t the biggest focus of the show, but that’s fine by me. I’m there to soak in all the nerd culture, as it’s awesome to experience an event of this scale with like-minded people. This year’s show will be bigger than ever, as the organizers of the event are moving it to the larger section of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, adding an extra day to the show and extending the hours of all four days of the event.

Last year, Steff and I were new to the whole thing, which led to some inefficiencies in regards to how we scheduled our time. Now that we’re comfortable with the show format, I think we’ll take a much more scheduled approach to the show, which will help us make the most of our time for shopping, panels, tournaments and other potentially cool experiences.

Last year, the highlight for Steff was meeting Adam West and getting his autograph. This year, she has her sights set on meeting Tom Felton, best known as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Besides being a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, she’s been very upfront with me on her love for Tom Felton. She swears that she will not run off with him when they meet, but I’ll make sure to hold her hand extra tight should she feel the urge.

While you can learn more about the event from their website, the one new event added to the show that my girlfriend and I are dying to witness is speed dating. Though she and I will not be participating in speed dating (sorry ladies and gentlemen), we would love to watch these take place, should we get the chance. I think it’s a great idea and I hope some of the participants really do find true love.

If you’re interested in going, you can buy tickets here. I’m sure it’ll be at least as awesome as last year’s event, if not better. Maybe we’ll see you there, too!

I don’t think that I will be going to Canada for this event sadly but meeting Darco must sound very exciting, I have a friend who met him and got a picture and an autographed poster of him but he paid $70.00 hopefully his manager won’t sink you deeper into the mess of the economy by doing the same thing but from what I have heard he’s a really cool guy and your in for a treat! Apart from that I found the part with your GF running off with Tom pretty funny but you sound like a really nice guy Jett, keep your current personality and you have nothing to fear 😉
