It’s about that time to switch it up!
Though it hasn’t been that long since I posted one of these, I’d actually had that configuration for a few weeks beforehand. This time, I’ll try and stay on top, posting these closer to when I rejigger the setup. At most, I’ll do these once a month for however long I’m interested in writing them. Here are a few new pieces I added!
Street Fighter III: Third Strike Art by Alvin Lee
Alvin Lee has done a lot of official Street Fighter art, including many of the comics and even a few games. When I visited his booth at Fan Expo a few years ago, I immediately gravitated towards this particular print. Though Third Strike is not my favourite game in the series, I just love this one looks. Such a cool piece!
Super Mario Maker Construction Hat
Around the time of the first game’s release, I happened to get a promotional construction hat from a convention I went to. Though it’s made out of flimsy plastic, it somehow managed to maintain its shape after being bounced around during our move a while back. With Super Mario Maker 2 out now, it’s a great time to bring this one back!
All New X-Men #1 by Brian Michael Bendis, Wade Von Grawbadger, Stuart Immomen, and Marte Gracia
The X-Men have been a big part of my life through many mediums, such as toys, video games, and cartoons. However, I didn’t really read their comics until All New X-Men #1. In it, the original X-Men team of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel, Iceman, and Beast are forcibly transferred forward into modern times. Not only was it the comic that got me into reading more X-Men, but it was my gateway to comics as a whole!
Dragon Ball Art by Nathan Ervin Salmon
I already talked about this one in recently, but it’s one of the coolest new additions to my setup! Nathan is a spray paint artist who paints these awesome pieces in a matter of minutes right in front of you. Seemingly in a blink, he whipped up this amazing Goku art for me!
I appreciate that when I asked for Goku, he asked me to clarify which version. When I jokingly asked for young Goku with the tail, he replied, “Oh. No one has actually ever asked me for that version!” Maybe next time I’ll get that. For now, I’m overjoyed with how this one turned out! I also got a sweet Ninja Turtles piece, but I’ll save that for another time!
