What is your flavour of summer?
Some like fresh fruits, as it is that time of the year when they’re harvested. Ice cream? While it’s a year-round phenomenon in my house, it’s definitely best known as a summertime treat. For my fellow Canadians, there’s nothing more refreshing and patriotic as a Tim Horton’s Iced Capp.
For me, nothing says summer quite like a slushie, slurpee, icee, or whatever name you ascribe to that flavoured ice beverage.
When I think back to my summers in the early 90s, it doesn’t get more iconic than the Super Soaker brand of water guns. In an era where most water guns were little pistols that only shot in short spurts, the Super Soaker revolutionized childhood H20 warfare. With each one possessing a large reservoir and the ability to shoot a continuous stream at a long distance, this was the true beginning for the water guns arms race in my community.
It has been a slow summer for new releases. Instead of twiddling my thumbs, waiting for Borderlands 2 to ruin my life, I’ve been playing a bunch of backlog titles. Though some of these have been duds, I’ve played some awesome titles that I would have missed if I was jumping from one hot new release to the next.
In my latest Splitkick article, I highlight a few of these bright spots I’ve come across, such as Bullestorm, Trine 2, and Asura’s Wrath. If you’re interested in learning more about these titles, how I’m working through these slow summer months, or want to discuss how you’re spending your summer gaming time, head over to Splitkick!
