Top 3 iPhone Games On Sale This Valentine’s Day

With a major holiday coming up, many iPhone game publishers are once again slashing the prices on a number of their games. Before writing this feature, I went nuts and bought a ton of games myself, many of which I will write about in the near future. If you’re looking to load up on iPhone games for yourself (or gift to a loved one) and don’t know where to start, I’d say start with my recommendations in this post.

1. Street Fighter IV (iTunes)
$0.99

When this game first came out at the price of $10, I wholeheartedly recommended it. One year later, at $0.99, and now with almost twice as many characters and a number of new modes, this is a steal. Street Fighter IV is not only the hands-down best fighting game on the iPhone, but it’s one of the best games on the platform, period. There’s a reason why it’s outselling Angry Birds in the App Store as I write this. If you’re still on the fence about this game because it was too expensive for your or because you think the controls will suck, I say pony up the $0.99 today and turn on the special move assist. Thank me later.

2. Spiderman: Total Mayhem (iTunes)
$0.99

Gameloft is not known for making original games. Spiderman: Total Mayhem doesn’t change the status quo. This game takes obvious cues from God of War and Infamous. But does it matter if the game is really good? I picked this up when it went on sale for $0.99 and I’m really enjoying it. If you don’t believe me, try the lite version.

3. Chu Chu Rocket! (iTunes)
$0.99

This Dreamcast classic is still a lot of fun in 2011. Unlike Sega’s Genesis ports that feature terrible emulation, Chu Chu Rocket! runs smoothly and plays as you would expect it to. This fun puzzle game also has multiplayer, which can be enjoyed by four people on one iPad, should you have one. The iPad version is also on sale for $0.99.

There are a lot of other great iPhone games on sale leading up to Valentine’s Day that cover a number of different tastes and are really cheap. If these don’t tickle your fancy, hit the App Store today and just check out all of the games dominating the charts. I’m sure you’ll find something you (or your loved one) will like!
