In Third Person Comic Book Show: New 52 Batman

I share my thoughts on why Snyder and Capullo’s run so far is the best place to start reading modern Batman while briefly discussing each of their main story arcs so far.

KDA_SAKO- (Evil Ryu) vs. jettFTW (Rolento/Rose) in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Highly doubt that this is the real Sako, but at times he certainly dishes it out like his namesake. Here’s a few of our matches that went down a while back.

Lost Legacy: The Starship Review

Seiji Kanai and AEG caught lightning in a bottle with their smash-hit game Love Letter. Using only 16 cards and a simple rule set, Love Letter provides a masterful gaming experience that is fun for virtually anyone. I first gushed about it in my review of the game last year and I still consider it to be one of my all-time favourites.

Trying to build on the success of Love Letter, Seiji Kanai and AEG are back with Lost Legacy: The Starship. Building on Love Letter‘s 16-card setup and ruleset while pairing it with an all-new theme, Lost Legacy aims to add another layer of depth to the gameplay. While this is certainly more complicated than its predecessor, it’s not necessarily better off.

jettFTW (Rose/Rolento) vs. Sacojericho (El Fuerte) in Ultra Street Fighter IV

A series of matches against a quality El Fuerte player from my area. I recognized his name from the times I was at T12 and Toryuken, so it was great to get some matches in against him!

In Third Person Comic Book Show: Fan Expo 2014 Wrap-Up

With Fan Expo now over, I take a few minutes to reflect on the event that was. In the midst of show-and-tell, I accidentally rip some of the art I bought and had to censor some unintended partial nudity.

m3gatron427 (Zangief) vs. jettFTW (Rose) in Ultra Street Fighter IV

A 5000+ BP Zangief player immediately decides to take a holier-than-thou approach to Rose’s fireballs by simply blocking them until he loses. He quickly follows up his loss with the hateful message below.

photo(47)I’ll gladly take the free win and the Battle Points, but I won’t accept anyone trying to paint me as the bad guy because I didn’t follow some non-existent set of fighting game gentleman’s rules. It’s people like this who also foolishly believe that throws are cheap and should not be used in any fighting game ever. These gentleman’s rules DO NOT EXIST. You play to win and that’s that. We live in a world where TAC infinite combos in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are deemed legal by the biggest fighting game tournament in the world. A world where a glitch became heavily used in Capcom vs. SNK 2 because it made the game better.

Furthermore, we live in a world where Zangief can beat Rose! Watch the above video where Aquasilk overcomes any on-paper match-up advantages I had to beat me into submission. M3gatron427’s refusal to fight only further amplifies his ignorance and lack of match-up knowledge.

This is fighting games in 2014. Everything is fair game and anything that isn’t gets patched out. If you want to get under my skin in Ultra Street Fighter IV, don’t throw a match and then send a salty text message as a parting shot. Those childish antics nothing. If you really want to grind my gears, beat me in the game.

I Got Better Internet!

Having noodled with creating video content for the last few months, bandwidth has become a problem at our house. Our bandwidth limit was relatively small and the overage costs have been tremendous. While I was in the midst of considering ways in which we could scale back our internet usage to save money, I got a call from my service provider. Knowing that we’d gone over our limit for the last few months, they instead offered to switch us to a new plan.

With this new package, we get faster download and upload speeds, a new modem, and our limit over three times higher than before! Best of all, this new plan is actually a bit cheaper than what we’re paying now. Now that I have a much higher ceiling, it opens up more opportunities with video content. I can make videos that are longer at higher resolutions. I can crank out more videos overall. I may even noodle with live streaming more. For me, the biggest problem with live streaming was that I couldn’t play any online games while streaming at the same time, as my internet was too slow to handle both. It remains to be seen if this new setup will allow for that, but I’ll certainly try.

Kudos to my internet service provider for hooking us up. Not having to worry about the cap makes our lives a lot easier while allowing us to freely do what we want with the internet. When it comes to this site, hopefully that means more video content!

Ryu (|H|akai) vs. Rolento (jettFTW) in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Don’t judge a player by their Battle Points. |H|akai doesn’t have many, but this Ryu player clearly knew what they were doing. He convincingly zoned out my Rolento and took this match to the absolute limit.
