Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Impressions

After a successful reboot on the Wii, Nintendo’s prime primates are back in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. A new set of enemies have frozen Donkey Kong Island, and its up to the Donkey, Diddy, Dixie and Cranky Kong to put a stop to their shenanigans.

Strider Impressions

Strider to me is the cool ninja guy in the Marvel vs. Capcom games. Sure, I know he has his roots in manga as well as in his own 2D side-scrolling action games, but I’ve never actually played them before. I didn’t come across a Strider game in my lifetime until I picked up an NES copy of the original game a few months ago. With the reboot of Strider on modern consoles, this is really my first crack at Capcom’s brand of 2D side-scrolling ninja action.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Impressions

Ubisoft’s historical tale of guys shanking other guys continues to be wildly popular, though my interest in it has been in decline for years. After the series peaked during the ACII/AC Brotherhood era, they followed them up with two clunkers in Revelations and III. I had no interest in playing IV at all, but because of all the positive buzz surrounding this latest installment, a trade-in credit burning a hole in my pocket and a thirst for quality PS4 games to play, I gave it a shot.

Coins are in abundance for you to collect and the game is constantly urging you to collect one million(!) of them. Having taken out Bowser yet again, it’s clear to see that the coin angle is a poor Band-Aid solution to compensate for a sub-par Super Mario game.

Hotline Miami Impressions

Hotline Miami grabbed my attention immediately with its retro art style, gritty story and phenomenal music. Having won me over on style, I wanted to get into this game in the worst way to see where it went. But then the reality of its gameplay set in.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Review

Up until this point, I had never played a Sly Cooper game before. During its heyday, I was a big PlayStation hater and wanted nothing to do with Sony’s gaming endeavours. Since I bought a PlayStation 3 a few years back, I’ve been slowly making my way through the platform’s signature franchises. I can now cross Sony’s sneaky raccoon off the list, as I’ve played through Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Admittedly, I didn’t think I’d get much out of this stealth platformer, but it managed to impress nonetheless.

Jett Plays Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

I blow into the Wii U GamePad like an idiot in hopes that it would move that stupid bag. Nope.

Jett Plays DuckTales: Remastered

I take Scrooge McDuck to the moon, which leads to disastrous results. I have since beaten the level, though I didn’t figure out how to use the map until it was too late.
