I have struggled mightily to fit Paper Mario: The Origami King into my rotation. My work life and personal life have kept me very busy, as well as other games vying for my time. But the biggest hurdle comes from the game itself. During the few times where I have given it a go, I just wasn’t that into it.
In Third Person started with video games as its primary subject matter. However, it’s taken many subject matter detours over the years as my interests have evolved. There was a stretch of time where I wrote a lot about comic books. Board games were huge on the site for a while. I discovered over the years that it was more important for me to use this space to write about my interests – whatever they are – versus trying to box myself in. I’m not trying to make the next Kotaku, Gamespot, or IGN (though they all stray from gaming at times as well). For the sake of my happiness, I’d rather have the site evolve with me.
Most recently, streaming content has consumed the site to the point where it’s a daily conversation point. In case you haven’t been following my recent antics on Twitch, here’s the lowdown on why it’s having such a dramatic impact on my writing output.
After the success of Super Mario RPG, I thought that a proper sequel was inevitable. Instead, Nintendo decided to go at it alone, leaving Squaresoft, Mallow, and Geno behind. Heartbroken by the change in direction, it took me almost 20 years to give Paper Mario a fair shake.
Cross one off the bucket list! After months of streams, Paper Mario is finally complete! It was a wonderful game to play and I’m glad that so many of you shared that experience with me!
Though my schedule fluctuates from week-to-week, I like the idea of having at least one Let’s Play game going at a time. It’s an opportunity for us to experience a game together in full. Here are a few games I’m kicking around as the next Let’s Play candidate!

This was a weird stream. Sidetracked by the Toronto Raptors getting into the NBA Finals, a Pokemon press conference happening during the stream, and an epic back in my day rant, we didn’t actually play much Paper Mario. However, we did get down to the bottom of this penguin murder mystery!
