Everybody knows Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. But do you know Air Fortress? The subject of this feature is an NES hidden gem you probably have never heard of. Check it out!

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Demo Impressions

Originally presented as a Nintendo 3DS title, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido will also be released day-and-date on the Nintendo Switch. Admittedly, the game hasn’t been on my radar, but I like puzzle games and there’s a free demo available now on the Switch. Does Nintendo have a sleeper hit on their hands?
Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Review

Previously, Game Freak took us to the island-based Alolan region for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Before putting a bow on this era of the franchise, we put on our beachwear one more time explore Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Not having played Sun or Moon prior to this, I can’t really give you a sense of how different this new entry is in comparison.
Early Nintendo Labo Variety Kit Impressions

Sometimes, wacky Nintendo is the best Nintendo. From the Wario Ware series, to Elite Beat Agents, to the world-shifting Wii Sports, their free-thinking approach can blaze the trail for others to follow. On the other side of that same coin are duds like Wii Music, the Wii U, or the e-Reader; ideas that couldn’t overcome their own insanity. By virtue of including cardboard into the mix, the Nintendo Labo put itself on the fast track to one of those two extremes.
Having now made and played with three of the five Toy-Cons in the Variety Kit, I think I have a better idea of where it fits on that scale.
Nintendo of Japan is Now Selling a Dockless Switch Bundle

The Nintendo Switch, praised for its ability to function equally well as a home console connected to a TV and as a standalone portable, now has a bundle in Japan that cuts out the home console part. At a discounted price of 24,980-yen ($226 USD), you’re getting a Nintendo Switch minus the dock, adapter, HDMI cable, and Joy-Con Grip. This is a savings of 5,000 yen ($45 USD) compared to the current base package.
The NES Classic Will Return to Stores on June 29th

What should have been a joyous occasion turned out to be a disaster for Nintendo in late 2016. The highly-sought after NES Classic Edition instantly disappeared off store shelves and was discontinued long before the market hit a saturation point. If you’re still searching for one and don’t want to pay the exorbitant after market prices for one, relief is arriving shortly.
Nintendo has announced that the NES Classic Edition will be returning to stores on June 29th. No word on exactly how many units will be available, but Nintendo has stated this this and the Super Nintendo Classic will be available in stores for the remainder of the year.
If you weren’t lucky enough to snag one before, I hope you get one this time!

Tetris Double Header Live Stream
Tune in for one legendary game and…another game in the same series while I answer questions about video game content creation! I also completely embarrass myself at the very beginning of the stream with one of the worst rounds of Tetris of all-time.
I Got the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit
With age comes wisdom, gray hair, and sometimes, gifts!
My family and friends actually spoiled me with two Nintendo Labo Variety Kits. One got exchanged for something else, but I still have one ready to rock! Looking forward to trying this out to see if Nintendo’s latest creation is the next big thing! Stay tuned!
Excited for NBA Playgrounds 2?

I really wanted to like the first NBA Playgrounds.
Appearing to be a spiritual successor to NBA Jam with a dash of NBA Street for good measure, NBA Playgrounds should have been a slam dunk. Instead, it stumbled horribly out of the gate with wonky shooting mechanics, a barebones single player experience, bad AI, a reliance on loot boxes to unlock players, and specifically for Nintendo Switch owners, no online play for the first few months of its release. Even though Saber Interactive gone a long way towards writing the wrongs of their base product, I still have a very sour taste in my mouth from that first experience.
Despite a lukewarm reception from myself and other online critics, the game sold well and the sequel is just around the corner. Is there anything in this new game to change my mind?
My Next Project: NES Surgery

My NES has suffered the same fate as the others. It doesn’t play games most of the time. Even after blowing into a cartridge for the 100th time (which I never should have done in the first place), I get a blinking red light and a flickering screen more often than not. Now that I’ve got an infrastructure in place to stream retro games, it’s time to give my old friend a tune-up.
