I’ve watched Independence Day too many times! I’m not giving up our planet this easily! We start our fight against the Vek in Into the Breach!

The Horrific Pikmin 3 Massacre of 2018
Tune in to watch a rusty Pikmin 3 player inadvertently sabotage his crew to the point where they have no food left and almost all of their Pikmin are dead. I will be better next time.
Stick around for the great conversation between everyone that joined the stream though!
And yes, I totally talked about Taylor Swift again and nobody can stop me!
Quick Look at the Valkyria Chronicles 4 Demo
I was taken aback at how long the Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo was to the point where I didn’t have enough time to finish it while streaming the other night. For now, here’s a look at the first two missions in the demo! Full demo impressions coming soon!

Azul Review

Inspired by Potugese ceramic tiles, Azul is an abstract strategy game in which players create decorative walls in order to gain the most points. As someone who can take issue with some of the more banal themes behind European-style board games, just hearing the concept for this one made my eyes roll into the back of my head. After having played a few times, the theme still doesn’t excite me at all, but the game sure is fun to play.
SteamWorld Heist Review

Before the release of SteamWorld Dig 2, Image & Form expanded on the SteamWorld franchise with a 2D turn-based strategy game. SteamWorld Heist is that game. Set in space, you control a team of robot space pirates as they venture through the galaxy, oftentimes finding themselves caught in gunfights within enemy ships. Is this a secret gem in the SteamWorld series?
Santorini Review
Santorini is a gorgeous game. The main board sits atop a stand that makes it look like its a raised island. Each worker figure is detailed. Most impressive are the building blocks, which form intricate buildings with clearly defined windows and stairs.
But high production values does not a good game make. Is this a game worthy of its beautiful components and somewhat steep price point?
What Happened to Advance Wars?

Years before I knew what Fire Emblem was, I was a die-hard Advance Wars fan. Upon its original release on the Gameboy Advance in 2001, it opened my eyes to the wonderful world of turn-based strategy. Beyond being my first foray, it’s still one of my favourites.
The series would get three more sequels before Nintendo quietly stopped supporting the series in 2008. Meanwhile, its sibling game Fire Emblem has taken off to become a marquee Nintendo franchise. What happened to Advance Wars? And what can be done to bring it back?
XCOM 2 Review

Remember that time in the XCOM reboot where you saved the world from the alien invasion? Whatever good you did eventually got undone. By the time XCOM 2 begins, the world has been enslaved by the aliens for many years. At this point, the XCOM group is nothing more than an underground movement fighting with scraps. With the odds worse than ever, can you muster up the will to fend off the alien forces one more time?
Out Now: XCOM 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Despite my adoration for its predecessor, XCOM 2 has slipped my mind a few times now. When it was first announced as a PC-exclusive, I whined about that fact on this blog and then forgot about it. While out on honeymoon in Hawaii, I was surprised to see console versions of the games available for pre-order. After that, the game fell out of my consciousness until it showed up in the mail just now.
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright Review

The Fire Emblem Fates series of games puts you at the heart of a conflict between two rival armies. On one side is the medieval-style Nohr army. On the other is the samurai-style Hoshido. If you buy Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright first, you’ll play most of the game from the side of the Hoshido clan.
With Fates essentially being three different Fire Emblem games launching at about the same time, this is easily the most ambitious effort. Based on my time with the Birthright edition, it’s also one of the best.
