The Pursuit of Happiness Review

I have a soft spot in my heart for The Game of Life. Despite only discovering it in my adult years, I greatly enjoyed the experience of playing through the life of my character. However, as I refined my taste in board games, the faults in the classic game’s design became too difficult to ignore. Sure, the theme continues to be great, but the outcome was almost entirely driven by the luck of the spinner.
The Pursuit of Happiness takes the theme that makes The Game of Life great and places it into a board game with modern worker placement mechanics. Eschewing the dice and most elements of chance, it aims to simulate the human condition with gameplay that is much more strategic in nature. Is this the hobby-grade version of The Game of Life you never knew you wanted?
Escape Room: The Game Impressions

For the past few years, escape rooms as a social activity have really taken off. Personally, I’ve gone a few times myself, though I’ve only escaped in time once. While the experience of puzzle solving with friends is great, it’s also quite expensive when you account for the admission costs of everyone involved.
Escape Room: The Game aims to capture the thrills of that experience as a cheaper tabletop board game. Do you have what it takes to escape these scenarios in time?
Board Game Talk: Bang! The Dice Game
This time, we go to the Wild West to partake in a wild gunfight. Do you have lucky hand with dice and the ability to spot a traitor in your midst? Learn more with this weeks’ video covering Bang! The Dice Game.

The Fantastic 4 Return to Marvel Legendary
Good news Marvel Legendary fans!
ICV2 reports that the Fantastic 4 expansion is coming back in print and will be available for purchase within 6-8 weeks. The expansion has been out of print for years due to “licensor-controlled issues” according to Upper Deck, but whatever was blocking the way has stepped aside for now.
I’m not a fan of the Fantastic 4 in the comics or movies, but it is a good expansion for Marvel Legendary. In particular, you’re going to want it in your collection to fight against Galactus. Look out for this one in stores this summer!

Board Game Talk is Coming Back! (Sort Of)
After a solid string of Board Game Talk episodes, I was hoping to replicate that seasonal format for the show. However, due to life circumstances making it hard to shoot, I think I’m going to have to forgo that original plan in order to keep what I do have in the can from going stale.
As such, I’ll be releasing the next three episodes on Sunday June 4th, Sunday June 11th and Sunday June 18th. Hope you tune in!
Marvel Legendary’s Upcoming X-Men Big Box Expansion

Admittedly, I’ve been out of the Marvel Legendary loop for quite some time. It’s been many months since I played it last and quite possibly years since I bought anything for the game. That being said, news of X-Men being the focus of the next big box expansion may bring me back into the fold.

More episodes will be on the way. Not exactly sure when they’ll go live, but they will when I have enough material to post across consecutive weeks. It’s been quite the learning process and I hope you can see the improvement throughout the season. Things should only get better with time.
