Yesterday was a huge day for Pokemon Go news. For one, we’re getting a double XP and double stardust event from November 23rd to 30th. Later on, we all freaked out when the CP values for all our pokemon changed because Niantic also pushed a balance patch. Let’s talk this through!
Opened in 1860, Queen’s Park was named after Queen Victoria. This park in the city is home to the Ontario Legislative Assembly, as well as the University of Toronto. Even if you’re not a student or a member of the government, you’ll want to visit the grounds to check out all of the statues and play some Pokemon Go.
Shortly after its release in September, my wife decided that she wanted to buy a Pokemon Go Plus. This nifty little device offers a lot of benefits to Pokemon Go players, such as being able to spin PokeStops or catch pokemon while the app runs in the background. Unfortunately for her, the product was already sold out and has been for weeks.
Located 50km away from the downtown core, Ajax Waterfront Park isn’t exactly Toronto. While you can take public transportation to get there, it is kind of a pain unless you have a car. Thankfully, the trek is worth it. You’ll get a gorgeous view of Lake Ontario, large fields to host a picnic, a long bike trail along the water, and quite possibly the best Pokemon Go lures that the province has to offer.
After five days of spooktacular action, the Halloween event in Pokemon Go has come to a close. Based on anecdotal evidence and some research from Sensor Tower, the event was a huge success. What made this event such a hit? And does it give us any clues into the future of the game?
Shortly after the release of Pokemon Go, I made it a goal of mine to put together a dream team. While I have completed the Pokedex and reached north of level 30, I still feel like I have a ways to go. For now though, thought it would be fun to share some highlights from my collection!
Admittedly, I’m stretching the definition of Toronto here. If you leave Toronto proper and head north on the 410, you’ll eventually reach Gage park in downtown Brampton. Besides Brampton being technically a city that is part of the Greater Toronto Area, it’s also a city I hold near and dear.
Growing up, Gage Park was that pretty little area with the gazebo that no one ever went to. Since the release of Pokemon Go, it’s become the heart of Pokemon action in the city. Why?
Three months, over 700km and countless adventures later, my North American Pokemon Go Pokedex is complete! There is no in-game reward for hitting that accomplishment, but it’s certainly one I’ll cherish. Considering the level of commitment and real-life travel required to pull this off, it’s up there as one of my biggest gaming accomplishments.
With no trips planned to Europe, Japan or Australia, I probably won’t get a Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan or Mr. Mime anytime soon. However, I’m ready to snag the legendary pokemon when they ultimately arrive, as well as continue to level up my pokemon squad. Despite having caught them all, there’s still more for me to do!
Located just steps away from Drake’s upcoming Toronto mansion, Sunnybrook Park is located in an upscale neighbourhood. Besides being home to picnic areas, it also features a world class cricket field and a horse stable. Though I’ve lived in the Greater Toronto Area for my entire life, I did not set foot in this park until it became one of the hottest nests in the city.
Shortly after beginning my Pokemon Go journey, I declared to myself that I wanted to catch ’em all, within reason. I wanted to catch all of the Gen 1 North American launch pokemon. Just over two months after the game’s release, I’m actually pretty close. Here’s what’s left, my plan for attacking the rest of them, and what I’ve learned as I went through this process.
