Floor Kids Impressions

Floor Kids is a rhythm game about the art of breakdancing. Available on the Nintendo eShop, players will break it down to original music by DJ Kid Koala. Hip-hop video games are few and far between, but is this one worth trying based on its concept alone?

My Game of the Year for 2017 is…

Game of the year is a weird award for an individual person to reward. Who am I, as one man, to make a bold declaration on which one of the thousands of video games is the best? Especially when I’ve probably played less than 20 of them this year?

The reality is, I can declare my own personal game of the year just like anyone else. How one comes to that conclusion is irrelevant. For me, it’s all about which game I played this year was the best and most impactful, with a tendency to weight the latter more heavily. In a year where I named Catherine my game of the year over Skyrim, I still believe I made the right call. I clamor for the day when a sequel to Catherine would arrive, though I’ve been largely over Skyrim since I completed it years ago.

Enough with the preamble. My 2017 game of the year is….

Nintendo Dominated My 2017

Coming off their biggest home console flop of all-time, most of us did not foresee a world in which Nintendo struck back with a vengeance. Little did we know that the new little console that The Big N unveiled towards the end of 2016 would become a juggernaut. And little did I know that the device would dominate my time and money in 2017.

Biggest Game Surprise of 2017

2017 has certainly been an eventful one for the video game industry. From Nintendo’s resurrection off the strength of the Nintendo Switch, to the franchise-crushing disappointment of Mass Effect: Andromeda, there was a lot about this year that we didn’t see coming.

Golf Story Review

Mario Golf on the Gameboy Color did something very cool that pretty much every other entry in the series has overlooked. More than just a golf game, it incorporated story and role-playing elements as a means of spicing things up. During my time with that game, I felt truly invested in the trials and tribulations of an aspiring golfer trying to become the Mushroom Kingdom champion due to having an impact on my character’s story arc and development of his abilities. Almost two decades later, Sidebar Games picks up the torch on the golf RPG concept with Golf Story and runs with it.

ARMS v.4.0 Out Now Featuring a New Character and More

Nintendo Switch owners are likely still busy with Super Mario Odyssey, but ARMS continues to truck along in the background with version 4.0 available now. This update brings in a new mode, a new arm attribute, and a new character named Misango. This Aztec warrior has cool scorpion gloves, and some weird special abilities with the mask. It’s been a bit since I played the game but I’m ready to jump in and try this guy out!
