My 5 Favourite Characters in Fighting Games

Character choice means everything in a fighting game. It’s about the moves that your character has. The strengths and weaknesses they have. Their look. Their back story. All of this ends up being a reflection of you and how you like to play any given fighting game.

For the fighting games I play, this very much applies to me. Characters that I use need to look cool and fit my play style. If they don’t fit both, I have a hard time being effective with them or finding the motivation to get better. As such, here’s my five favourite fighting game characters!

Ed Revealed in Street Fighter V

Though news of Ed’s appearance as the next DLC character in Street Fighter V has been leaked on a number of fronts, he finally makes his formal debut in this trailer released by Capcom.

Having made his debut in Balrog’s Street Fighter IV ending as a kid, Ed is rapidly aging due to harnessing Psycho Power, hence why he looks like a full-grown adult now. Beyond having access to special energy, he’s trained under Balrog, giving him a boxing-style flair to his approach.

Ed looks awesome. Say what you will about his default costume, his fighting style looks like a blast to play as. Haven’t picked up Street Fighter V in quite some time, but this is a character that I definitely want to invest some time into.

For those who have access to the upcoming online beta, he will be playable this week. After that, he’ll be available in the near future. Get that fight money ready for one more cool character on the roster!

Street Fighter V Kolin Live Stream

I messed up.

This was supposed to go live alongside of the stream so you could watch, but I forgot to publish it.

Out Today: Kolin in Street Fighter V

The next new character in the Street Fighter V series makes her debut today! Packing ice powers she gained from Gil, Kolin appears to be a character that has shades of Decapre and Rose in her play style. While I felt like the general reception to her thus far has been lukewarm, I think she’s right up my alley. Are you picking up Kolin today?

TEST STREAM: Street Fighter V on YouTube

Having run a few streams on Twitch has taught me that they don’t offer a built-in archiving solution. While in theory, I could record locally, the reality is that my computer struggles miserably to save video files this large. As such, streams that ran an hour or more would take more than eight hours to save while putting my computer at risk of catching on fire.

YouTube may not be a household name in video game streaming, but it does do the job while offering built-in archiving. Of course, I tested it out with Street Fighter V. Let me know what you think!

In Third Person’s Top 10 Most Viewed Posts Written in 2016

In 2016, I released 181 posts. As much as I would like to see them all succeed equally, a handful of posts ultimately break away from the pack. If anything, that handful of posts end up accounting for a majority of this site’s traffic. This is in large part due to the Google spiders giving preferential positioning to certain things, though I ultimately can’t predict which posts will hit and which posts won’t.

No time for losers at the moment though, as this is the cream of the crop. The 10 most viewed posts released in 2016 on In Third Person along with one honourable mention that fell just short of the cut. Let’s get this show on the road!
