Unleash the beast! In one memorable game, I decimate an opposing team on three separate occasions with perfectly-placed Dragonstrike shots! That said, I spend time playing tanks and support as well. Meanwhile, we have some engaging conversations about our predictions for the next decade, tips for streaming success, and how our first names have impacted our lives.

With the Winter Wonderland event going on in Overwatch, I’m in a bit of a giving (health) mood! I noodle around with Mercy and Zenyatta, but actually play my best game as Hanzo. Along the way, we discuss our lukewarm impressions of this year’s Game Awards, share our holiday plans, and get into a spirited discussion about review scores in video games.
Pioneered by the likes of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, the first-person shooter has grown to become one of the most popular genres in gaming. There’s something inherently visceral about viewing the world from the eyes of your character, as it puts you a step closer to the action.
Though I wouldn’t consider myself to be a genre enthusiast, I have played a number of first-person shooters in my travels. Here’s a quick list of a few faves! What are some of your fave first-person shooters?
When there’s a will – and millions of consoles sold – there’s a way to seemingly port anything to the Nintendo Switch. Following the likes of Rocket League, Doom, and The Witcher 3 among many third party titles that we once thought weren’t technically feasible or financially viable, Overwatch and its iconic cast of heroes push their way onto the Nintendo Switch. Better late than never?
Is the Nintendo Switch version of Overwatch any good? I answer this burning question while playing some matches with viewers, making recommendations on what to pick up during the Nintendo eShop Black Friday sale, sharing travel stories, and continuing the debate on who in the relationship should sleep closest to the door!
Sneaking in just before the Summer Games event ends, we get in a few matches with Hanzo, Ashe, Lucio, and D. Va! Along the way, we discuss the upcoming Role Lock addition to Overwatch, why I’ve been walking with a limp for the last few weeks, Ninja moving to Mixer, and review the Fan Expo Canada 2019 schedule together!
Thank you to everyone that tuned in! I appreciate your company!

As an Overwatch silver league scrub on PS4 who mostly plays quick match, I don’t think I’ve ever run into the meta-defining GOATS comp, which this update partially aims to shut down. Once this recent update goes live, I almost certainly never will. However, even at my rudimentary level of competence and understanding, there are reasons for me to be excited (and concerned) for this update.
GameCube Week continues on In Third Person! This time, I morph ball roll my way back to Metroid Prime!
Some games age like fine wine. You can pick up a Gameboy today – or 100 years from now – and still have just as much fun with Tetris as players did when it was first released in the 1980s. Other games lose their sheen faster than you would hope. Have you played Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 recently? Despite being revolutionary for its time, advents in the shooter genre have rendered it obsolete. It’s only real value now is nostalgia, which it admittedly has in spades.
Going back to Metroid Prime recently proved to be an interest test of its staying power. Revolutionary in its own right, Samus’ debut on the GameCube successfully translated its 2D exploration roots into the third dimension. How much of the experience still stands strong almost 20 years later? I played it for a few hours on stream to find out.
Happy anniversary Overwatch! I play a few games of the hero shooter while we discuss the NBA Finals, Devolver Digital’s sale on the Nintendo Switch, double-dipping on a potential next-gen Overwatch, and more!
