Capcom’s Comedy of Fighting Game Missteps
I consider myself to be a massive fan of Capcom fighting games. I’ve poured in thousands of hours into everything they’ve put out since Street Fighter IV, and was a always a fan of Street Fighter II. However, it’s gotten increasingly hard to ignore the calamity of errors that follow every fighting game release. Let’s run through a bunch of them from the last few years, shall we?
Super NES Classic Review
The NES Classic is a novelty time capsule of gaming during the 1980s. Yes, there are some all-time classics on there, but most of those games haven’t aged well. The same cannot be said about the Super NES Classic. This cute mini console packs a punch with a 20-game lineup that is not only some of the best the SNES could offer, but many of these titles are still glorious gaming experiences today.
On paper, this should be a home run. Does the package as a whole live up to its incredibly high expectations?

Recently, we got the most solid confirmation of this plan existing through Amazon, as they’ve gone ahead and listed the product for pre-order. The fate of two worlds rests on your shoulders in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite! This tag team fighter may be more streamlined compared to its predecessors, but it’s still one of the toughest fighters to learn due to its lighting pace and the complexity that comes with managing multiple characters at once. Capcom Unveils Black Panther and Sigma for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
Today, Capcom pulled the lid off of Black Panther and Sigma in this trailer for the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite DLC. From what we can see, Black Panther sort of scratches the Wolverine itch, with his claw-based attacks and boundless agility. Sigma, on the other hand, looks like a big body combination of X and Zero.
This duo, along with the Monster Hunter, will be available on October 18th. Of these characters, I’m most excited for Black Panther filling my Wolverine void, but Sigma and Monster Hunter look great too. We’ll see which ones I end up with!

Falling Out of the Call of Duty Hamster Wheel
I lucked into the Call of Duty series many years ago when my mom won a Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 bundle at her work Christmas party. Not having any interest in the franchise until that point, that game won me over in a big way. Gorgeous graphics, a roller coaster ride of a single player campaign and wildly addictive multiplayer had me hooked. I went backwards to experience the original Modern Warfare as well as World at War, and kept up until Advanced Warfare.
As good as those games generally are, I don’t miss the series at all.
