The PlayStation Plus Edition is finally out! I take a few laps around tracks in India in hopes of not finishing in last place.
Just Signed Up For My First Board Game Tournament!

On Monday, July 13th, Steff and I will be participating in our first board game tournament! We will be joining 28 others in a battle for Splendor supremacy. It’s a game that I think works great in a tournament environment, as it’s mechanics lend themselves well for strategic and tactical thinking. There’s also prizes for everyone involved to trick out your home copy of the game.
Win or lose, I think it’ll be a great time for all. At the very least, I’m guaranteed to get some sort of prize just for participating, and I get to play a game I really like with others. If you’re interested in participating, check out the event page on Facebook.
Board Game Night Playlist: Cooperative Play

Up until relatively recently, board games have been a primarily competitive medium. Thankfully, thanks to innovations in game design, players can now work together to face off against an opposing force that can only be stopped with your combined talents. This edition features a group of games that will keep you working as a team all night long.

In Response to “Card games and board games are dying out, and it’s no great loss”

Recently, a published article on The Telegraph sent board gaming enthusiasts into a tizzy. Written by Harry Wallop, he wrote a scathing piece on the hobby called “Card games and board games are dying out, and it’s no great loss“. As a huge fan of board games, it’s tough for me to not just angrily lash out, but I’ll try and tackle this with a cool head.
The Resistance Review

A corrupt government rules the land with an iron fist. Together, you and your fellow players will try and overthrow them by going on a series of daring missions in The Resistance. The problem is, the government is in on your scheme and their spies have already infiltrated your group. Can you still succeed in spite of the government’s spies that are trying to take you down from the inside?
Splatoon Review

It’s cute! It’s colourful! It’s…the next big shooter? Splatoon for the Wii U dares to mix things up in a genre where most are still copying from the Call of Duty playbook. In fact, Nintendo’s newest entry into the genre strays so far from the norm that shooting other people isn’t your primary objective. As crazy as that may sound, it works surprisingly well here.
My E3 Pre-order Haul!
For Canadian gamers, E3 season is the most wonderful time of the year. Besides getting all of the news on upcoming games, Canadian retailers often put on great deals for pre-ordering games that are featured at the event. This year, Amazon stole the show with a whopping 30% off when you pre-order three or more games. Needless to say, my shopping cart ended with way more than that. Here’s what I got!
Apple Watch Review
I hate wearing watches. Haven’t worn one since I was like 8 years old. Can’t stand the handcuff-like feeling that comes with wearing one. The ability to tell time has never been enough of a selling point to overcome that barrier. But could I make an exception for one made by my favourite tech company? One that has the potential to do way more than tell the time? If the Apple Watch can’t do it, I don’t know what will.
Secret Wars
The Marvel universe as we once knew it is no more! An event years in the making and one that culminates in the Secret Wars crossover event, Marvel Comics has destroyed what’s left of its multiverse by smashing the last two planets together. All that’s left is Battleworld, a patchwork of lands from different points in Marvel history. I generally avoid crossover events like the plague, but the promise of total annihilation was too hard to ignore. So far, I’m glad to to be in!
