Check Out My Gaming Library

Darkadia

For the past decade or so, I’ve maintained an Excel file that lists every video game I own. While it works fine for personal purposes, I’ve wanted to do more with it for a while now. Recently, through some quick Google searching, I found this cool site called Darkadia that provides a cool way to display my collection online while providing a number of practical ways to sort them.

If you’d like, head over to my Darkadia profile and check out the hundreds of games I own or have played throughout my lifetime. Over time, I’ll be fleshing it out with more games and more detailed entries. Besides this post, you’ll find a direct link to my profile right up on the main navigation.

I really like Darkadia so far. It was very quick to set up, has a lot of features I like and am looking forward to what’s on the road map for the future. At this point, the site is free, though a paid version with more features is on the way. I’d actually consider the paid version if the price is right for the upgrades. If you like what you see of mine, consider making your own through Darkadia!

Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess Review

photo(15)
Having gone to two Video Games Live shows to date, I figured that my experience with The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess would be very similar to that. Despite both being orchestral shows, they’re very different in feel. In the case of the latter, having a narrower scope to work with definitely worked in its favour.

I’m Going to Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess Tonight

Last year, I was totally bummed out over the fact that I missed out on the Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess concert. I told myself then that if they ever came back, I’d buy tickets as soon as possible. In fact, I bought the tickets for tonight’s show so long ago that I almost forgot that it was happening.

Fan Expo Sports Strikes Out

If Fan Expo 2013 was the latest battleground between nerds vs. jocks, the nerds crushed their competition in a lopsided victory. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as this is the first time that sports has been featured. However, the sports aspects of the show themselves turned out to be a bit of a letdown.

Pick-Up Post: Fan Expo 2013 Edition

Fan Expo Swag Full

Every year, Fan Expo is especially harsh on my wallet. I rarely get access to much in the way of nerdy stuff to buy, let alone everything I could ever want in one place. This year proved extra fruitful, as I bought or got pretty much everything on my wish list and then some. In case you’re interested, here’s what I got!

And I’m Off To Fan Expo 2013

Today marks the beginning of Fan Expo 2013! Steff and I will be attending all 4 days of the event, which should be a blast of nerdy entertainment. Not sure how I’m going to recap it, though you can check out some things I wrote about last year’s event here!

Now With Less Suck: A Tale of Xbox One Backtracking

Microsoft’s recent announcement of the Kinect no longer being required to make the Xbox One work is the latest in an unprecedented series of flip-flopping before the console’s release. On one hand, it’s great that they’re proactively addressing many of the issues that more discerning consumers have with the platform. However, this sequence of events also highlights how off-base the original vision for the console was while giving me cause for concern going forward.

Salty Bet: The Ultimate Realization of CPU vs. CPU Play

As a kid, I had a weird fascination with CPU vs. CPU play. Though I never understood the point of including this as an option, I’d always run it at least once in every game that supported it just to see what happened. Sometimes the ensuing action was as dull as watching paint dry. Other times, it led to a few solid hours of entertainment. In particular, the classic wrestling games from THQ for the Nintendo 64 were my favourites for simulated gaming action, as those fights almost always were legendary.

It’s funny now seeing this phenomenon manifest in new ways on a much larger scale thanks to the efforts of the VGCW and Salty Bet; the latter of whom may have reached the ultimate end game for CPU vs. CPU play.
