Thoughts on Android 18 in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Originally created to kill Goku, Android 18 has since joined the Z fighters and married Krillin. In Dragon Ball FighterZ, she fights alongside of her twin brother Android 17 and they attempt to stop the evil Android 21.

She plays with an unorthodox style that can be difficult to grasp. In particular, her combo potential appears to be very limited due to the way her special moves work. However, extended combos aren’t really the focal point of her game plan. Instead, she has the tools to smother her foes with a seemingly inescapable barrage of pressure.

Pokemon Go in the Suburbs

One of the fundamental challenges that can impact your enjoyment of Pokemon Go is that not all parts of the world are created equal. As someone who lived in the city and worked in the downtown core, I was blessed with a plentiful number of Pokestops to refill on supplies and gyms to conquer. However, a little while back, I moved to the suburbs and was temporarily working from home. Cut off from the rich resources of the city for an extended period of time, it gave me a new perspective on how many other people see the game.

Injustice 2 Legendary Edition is Coming on March 27, 2018

Last year, Superman and friends smashed their way back onto millions of consoles off the strength of Injustice 2. Unfortunately, despite my rabid fandom for the first game, financial reasons caused me to sit this one out. Thankfully for me, and whomever else missed the boat, a new edition of the game is coming on March 27th with all of the DLC characters, a bunch of DLC skins, and an expanded tutorial mode. All of this at the cost of $60 US.

At some point, I will get this version of the game. By the time this launches, I might still be in the midst of Dragon Ball FighterZ fever. But as soon as that subsides, I’ll be there to finally catch up. Is Batman still a good character in this game?

Oxenfree Review

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A group of teenagers get together for a night of debauchery in a secluded area before twisted and horrific things begin to happen. Even in the world of video games, this premise has been done before by Until Dawn on the PlayStation 4.

Oxenfree by Night School Studio puts its own twist on the teen thriller by shifting the perspective. In this game, you watch the action from a 2D side-scrolling view. While it does give the game a unique look, it’s not the only trick the game has up its sleeve.

Pokemon Go’s February Community Event Featuring Dratini Was Awesome!

The first of Niantic’s Pokemon Go Community Day events starred Pikachu. While this particular Pikachu featured Surf as a new charge attack, as well as a rare shiny variant, the frequency at which we see the electric rodent already kind of deflated the potential hype this event concept could provide. February did not have such a problem. Its featured Pokemon was the seldom seen and highly lucrative Dratini. Hype levels were at an all-time high and Niantic didn’t disappoint.

Today is Pokemon Go Community Day Featuring Dratini!

Last month, Niantic began their monthly series of Pokemon Go Community Day events with a special edition Pikachu featuring Surf as a quick attack. This time, starting at 2pm EST and ending at 5pm EST, Dratini will be the special Pokemon made readily available.

If you don’t have a Dragonite yet, today is the day to hit the parks and collect as many Dratini as you can! Even if you do have one, it never hurts to have more!

Life is Strange: Before The Storm Review

Before Max returned to Arcadia Bay, there was the dynamic duo of Chloe and Rachel. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a three-episode prequel set during their heyday as friends. As much as I enjoyed the previous game, there appeared to be a lot going against this one.

Set in Arcadia Bay while Max was off in Seattle, it appeared that the game’s core mechanic of time travel wouldn’t be present. Also, the studio behind the original game was off elsewhere, while a different team created Before the Storm. On top of that, the original voice of Chloe, Ashley Burch, was unable to reprise her role due to the actor’s strike at the time of development. Was this poised to be a disaster?

The Combat in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Weeks ago, when I first played the open beta, I had one major concern about Dragon Ball FighterZ. Would the gameplay hold up to the rigors of competitive play? While I certainly had fun in those first few hours, I had concerns that the game’s design was overly rigid, from half of the characters being Saiyans, to a combo system that isn’t as open ended as something you would find in a Marvel vs. Capcom game.

Now that we’re a few weeks in, I’ve really grown to appreciate what Dragon Ball FighterZ has to offer.
