Snorlax, Street Fighter, Space, and Seclusion in This Set of Spray Paint Art!

Spray painting season continued with my first live stream. Despite the lo-fi streaming setup, the broadcast seemed to work well enough and I loved being able to share this creative process with you.

For those who didn’t watch the stream, here’s what I ended up painting!

Street Fighter V Final Beta Cammy Matches and Impressions

Unlike her Street Fighter IV counterpart, Cammy in Street Fighter V isn’t nearly as dependent on dive kicks and set play. Instead, she’s been tuned for a more straight-up aggressive play style. She’s received a number of new and re-worked normal attacks that make her more functional in most situations. Her Hooligan now has homing properties, allowing her dive kick to cross over and back for what could be a tricky mix-up.

In the right hands, she can be quite dangerous. She may not have her dive kick set-ups, but she has the tools to keep you guessing in other ways. Her damage output may be lackluster and she has one of the worst V-Skills in the game, but Cammy players can overcome that with smart and aggressive play.

Street Fighter V Beta Impressions Part 4: Cammy

Cammy is one of the most popular characters in the Street Fighter roster. Part of that comesĀ being an attractive character who inexplicably chooses to fight in a one-piece bathing suit. To each, their own, I guess. Outfit aside, she’s also been a fun character to play as, even in games where she wasn’t good.

That certainly wasn’t the case for her in Street Fighter IV. From instant divekicks, to dizzying Sako combos, to unblockable setups, Cammy was a top-tier monster forĀ many years thanks to weapons that kind of went against the spirit of the game. It would ultimately take a core change to how all characters wake-up from a knockdown to cool her off just a touch. How do you now bring her into the Street Fighter V fold withoutĀ nerfing the character into oblivion? Capcom has some interesting solutions that conundrum.

Ultra Street Fighter IV Omega Mode Cammy Combo Video

The original Killer Bee is a force to be reckoned with in Omega Mode. Some of her big changes include a new special move that launches opponents into the air, a heavily-reworked Spin Knuckle and the ability to cancel a jumping attack on hit into a dive kick. I really liked the way in which her tweaks expanding her combo options, which I explore in this video!

Cammy may not be as popular today as she was during her Arcade Edition heyday, but I still believe that she’s one of the best characters in Ultra Street Fighter IV. In this video, I square off against the #11 Cammy in the world on PSN!

Death By Decapre

Decapre Mix-UpI have to admit that I didn’t expect to get much out of Decapre. Based on her similarities with Cammy and my struggles with using the original Killer Bee, I figured that any time with Decapre would end in disappointment. Don’t want to jinx things, but so far, Decapre is working out much better than expected.

Return of the Raging Demon

Years ago, I publicly dumped Akuma. Despite having invested hundreds of hours into the character, I felt like our relationship had run its course. I hit a ceiling with that character that was lower than where I wanted to go, so I thought it would be best to move on. As I’ve said multiple times on this blog in the following years, dropping Akuma for Rose was the best thing I ever did in a fighting game. Since dropping Akuma, I’ve leveled up to the point where my Rose is currently ranked 3rd in the world on PSN, which is a milestone that I wouldn’t have foreseen in my wildest dreams.

Was the dramatic turnaround all due to the character change? Part of it certainly is. However, having gone back to watch some old video and having played with Akuma recently, it’s becoming more apparent that much of my success now comes from personal growth.
