When you’re hot, you’re hot! I set a new personal record for Tetris 99 wins on stream! As we played, we discussed a ton of different stuff. What super awkward thing did Jett just do? Is any of the new Twitch merch any good? And is it worth hunting for a PlayStation 5 right now?

The Most Popular Channel Point Rewards on My Twitch Channel in 2020

Earlier this year, I implemented new tech that allowed you to control the stream by spending Twitch Channel Points. The feature proved to be such a big hit that it’s now a core component of my show. I love the fact that you get to add your personal touch to the content, whether that means perfectly timing the air horn to coincide with hype moments, taking a hilarious photograph of me with an autograph to match, or blowing the Poke Flute in hopes that shiny Snorlax will appear.

Speaking of which, let’s get the elephant shiny Snorlax out of the room. The most popular Twitch Channel Point reward was the Poke Flute and it wasn’t close. But how much more popular was it compared to the others? And how often were the other effects used? Here are the Channel Point usage stats on my channel from least-to-most used!

Learning How to Play PC Games with Keyboard & Mouse

“This is embarrassing.”

I’m at the very beginning of Cyberpunk 2077 and the game wants me to pick a dialogue choice. I click on the line I want to say. Nothing happens. I start to hit a bunch of buttons with no luck. How hard can it be to select a line of dialogue?

Turns out, all I had to do was press F, which is the main interact button in the game. It even says it on the screen, though it’s faded into the background a bit and I wasn’t sure that this prompt was trying to tell me to press F.

Despite having used a keyboard and mouse for pretty much my whole life, using it within the context of gaming has been an uphill climb.

Ghost of Tsushima and My Waning Appetite for Big Games

Ghost of Tsushima is a fantastic game. Its presentation is top-notch, from photographic vistas, to stellar voice acting, to thrilling combat. There’s also a ton of content to experience across its vast map.

The problem for me is…there’s a ton of content to experience across its vast map.

The Retro Magic of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light is a tough game to recommend in modern times. Yes, it’s the first time the original game has been released internationally. Yes, it’s available in a snazzy limited edition set. And if you don’t mind Nintendo’s oppressive approach to selling the game, you need to pick it up before it disappears from the eShop after March 31st, 2021.

Even if the argument around Nintendo’s business practices didn’t cloudy the picture, the original Fire Emblem game plays like a game that was made 30+ years ago. Limited by the NES hardware of its time, the game’s dialogue reads like the Coles Notes for another Fire Emblem game. You can’t see movement ranges for your heroes or your enemies, making it difficult to assess your movements. You don’t get the menu that shows the probabilities of hitting or getting hit. Worst of all, item management is handled so poorly that you’re better off playing the game as if it didn’t exist.

Playing Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is probably not worth the trouble. Even so, there’s something magical that the original game still possesses.
