Tetris Double Header Live Stream

Tune in for one legendary game and…another game in the same series while I answer questions about video game content creation! I also completely embarrass myself at the very beginning of the stream with one of the worst rounds of Tetris of all-time.

My Next Project: NES Surgery

My NES has suffered the same fate as the others. It doesn’t play games most of the time. Even after blowing into a cartridge for the 100th time (which I never should have done in the first place), I get a blinking red light and a flickering screen more often than not. Now that I’ve got an infrastructure in place to stream retro games, it’s time to give my old friend a tune-up.

A Personal Retro Revival?

I’ve always had a soft spot for the classics. Having grown up through most of the history of video games, there’s a nostalgia there that gets me in the feels every time. That said, retro gaming is not a part of my day-to-day life. I have a few retro consoles on display in an entertainment unit, with all of the games tucked away in shoe boxes in the bottom compartment.

Two, hooking up retro consoles to a modern TV is a huge pain. Thirdly, there was a time in my life where I used retro game collecting as a means of avoiding the harsh realities of adulthood. Once I got my mind right, collecting moved to the back burner.

Due to recent events, the classics may receive a second wind in my world.

The Legend Begins

I vaguely remember the first time I ever played the Legend of Zelda. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t old enough to go to school and I couldn’t read at the time. All I remember is getting the sword and running around the world, killing monsters. I was told that I was supposed to save a princess, but I had no idea how. I aimlessly wandered around the world and killed things, which at the time, was probably enough of a gameplay experience to satisfy my tastes.

It would take a few more years before I actually understood how to play a Zelda game, when I first got my hands on A Link to the Past. It would take a few years after that for me to finally “get it”, when Ocarina of Time left an impact on my gaming life that I still feel today.
