The Gaming Rotation – How Many Games Are You Juggling at Once?

From what I gather, Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t a particularly long game. And yet here I am, having owned it since launch, still just a fraction of the way through it.

A lot of things arose in the last few months that got in the way. Running the Extra Life marathon. The holidays. Writing for the site. Streaming. Creating content for the YouTube channel. Oh, and my quirk of playing only one game at a time.

Ready for CTWC Classic Tetris World Championships?

Though I’ve been playing Tetris since the days of the NES and Game Boy, I got good playing the modern versions of Tetris, such as Tetris DS, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Tetris Effect, and Tetris 99. Over the years, Tetris has made a lot of mechanical changes to its core formula that you might have missed, making NES Tetris a very different beast. Do my modern skills translate to classic Tetris? Am I ready for the CTWC Classic Tetris World Championships? Let’s find out together!

I think I took a big step forward with this video in terms of concept and execution. It’s not perfect, but I’m really glad with how it turned out. Hope you enjoy!

Fantasy Strike Review

Fantasy Strike by Sirlin Games is a video game based on a card game inspired by a video game. You still following?

Yomi, the card game that is the source material Fantasy Strike is based on, is one of my all-time favourite tabletop gaming experiences for how well it translates the thrill of playing a fighting game into a tabletop experience. Does Fantasy Strike bring the whole thing full-circle as a compelling video game?

Working On My Fitness – First Impressions of Ring Fit Adventure

Exercise for the sake of living a healthy lifestyle or getting jacked has never been a strong enough motivator for me to do it. Many forms of exercise aren’t fun in and of themselves. However, if the exercise is tied to some sort of sport, game, or activity, I’m more likely to buy in. For example, I never could find the motivation to run for the sake of running, but I’ll hightail it in a game of basketball.

That philosophical difference between running and playing basketball is largely the same thing that separates Wii Fit and Ring Fit Adventure.

Ranking 5 Indie Fighting Games on the Nintendo Switch from Worst-to-Best

In this silver age of fighting games, independent developers have been able to find their footing in the scene. From the silly Divekick to the visually-stunning and mechanically-deep Skullgirls, these games have received critical acclaim, sold well, and established their own communities. They may not have the name recognition as some of the AAA titans in the genre, but a number of indie fighters have proven to be worthy alternatives.

So far, I’ve sampled five indie fighters on the Nintendo Switch. Here’s how I rank them from worst-to-best!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Demo Impressions

Pokemon spin-off games may not have the prestige of the mainline series, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be good or successful in their own right. Pokemon Go hit supernova levels of popularity at launch and is still one of the biggest games in the world in terms of player base and revenue. Matter of fact, chasing Pokemon in the real world is what truly brought me into the fandom.

Though I’ve completely missed the window on the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, it seems like the series has done well for itself. Over 13 million copies sold before the release of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is nothing to sneeze at. With a remake of the original on the way for the Nintendo Switch and a demo available now on the eShop, I take a stroll through Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
