On this day in 2008, I published the first post on In Third Person. Nine years, over 2,200 posts, and over 400,000 pageviews later, In Third Person is still here. This has always been a passion project of mine and it’s comforting to know that others come to this site every day for my random musings on video games, board games, and other nerdy pursuits. Thank you to everyone that has read a post, followed the blog, subscribed to one of my video channels, or shown your support in any other way. Your support is truly appreciated.
In Third Person will continue to carry on as long as making content continues to be fun and something I can find the time for. Of late, I’ve been working diligently on improving the video content, which I think has improved by leaps and bounds over the last six months or so. It will only get better from here!
And of course, I’ll continue to write. It’s the backbone of the In Third Person experience and it’s still a joy to sit down in front of the computer and articulate my thoughts with just the right combination of words and pictures.

My history with this particular branch of the franchise is murky at best. I adore the first game, but haven’t really spent much time with the rest. I still have the first six X games on the last collection for Gamecube, but maybe I’ll double dip to get it on a modern platform.

During one of my recent live streams, I brought up the topic of who is good/bad in Pocket Rumble. I am no expert at this game, but we went through the roster to have a casual discussion about the tier list. Who do you think is top-tier and who do you think is trash? Maybe at some point, I would consider writing a formal tier list someday!

Pocket Rumble will hit you like a punch to the back of your head. Touted as being the accessible fighting game for a broader audience, the simplified controls will not save you from a brutally-difficult arcade mode AI and wonky matchmaking that will pair newbies up with top-tier competition. Simpler special move inputs will not spare you from having to climb the mountain in order to “git gud”.
The mountain is still steep, but you don’t have to climb it blind. Hopefully these tips will get you on the right track!
