Street Fighter V Beta Tutorial/Story Mode

Version 1.05 of the Street Fighter V Beta adds a tutorial mode to its package. It covers the basics, from how to move and jump, up until how to use your V-Trigger. Since none of this was present in Street Fighter IV, this is a good sign.

More interesting are the story ramifications on display. The cutscenes take place very early in the Street Fighter story, as Ryu and Ken are being taught by Gouken while Ken is sporting his Street Fighter Alpha ponytail. They even fight each other in their classic costumes, which could be a sign of what’s to come in terms of DLC costumes.

Street Fighter V Beta Rashid Impressions

Entering the fray for the first time is Rashid. A naturally agile guy whose abilities are boosted by the technology in his backpack, he attacks with an assortment of flying kicks and tornado-based attacks. Does he have what it takes to blow away the competition?

Street Fighter V Beta Necalli Combo Video

The Aztec warrior has been one of my most anticipated characters to play as in Street Fighter V. He’s a little more conventional than I thought he’d be, but I certainly found some fun uses for him within the context of this combo video. Get hype!

Street Fighter V Beta Rashid Matches Part 1

This marks the beginning of my match videos that I recorded during my limited time with the beta. Of the characters, I got the most time in with Rashid, so there will be more to come. That said, none of these videos will feature high level play, as I myself was more interested in exploring the game rather than being the best at it, but these are good to get a sense of what’s to come. Enjoy!

Dhalsim, Six DLC Characters and a Release Date Announced for Street Fighter V

Lots of big Street Fighter V news coming out of Paris Games Week. For starters, Capcom revealed Dhalsim as the latest character added to the playable roster. I’m generally not a fan of the Yoga master, but I love everything I’ve seen in the trailer, from his new look to the plethora of changes made to his arsenal. Definitely excited to give him a shot.

Covering Part 2 of the Street Fighter V Beta

I missed most of the Street Fighter V beta the first time around. After an epic fail of a launch, Capcom conveniently rescheduled the beta to fall on a weekend where I would be out of the province. Played as much as I could on the first and last days of the beta, but it certainly wasn’t ideal.

Hoping that I would be fully available for the second go-around, it clearly wasn’t meant to be. Capcom scheduled their four-day beta during a time when I would be away with Steff for a marriage retreat for three of those days. Also, during one of the periods where I could actually play, the power was scheduled to be shut off in my building. Once again, I made the most with the little time I had.

Street Fighter V Beta R. Mika Combo Video

At her core, R. Mika is a grappler, which generally means her combo potential isn’t as high as some of her peers. That said, she still has some tools to string together some hits for big damage, especially with her tag team partner diving in as part of her V-Trigger. Check it out!

The Second Street Fighter V Beta Begins Today

For players who have pre-ordered Street Fighter V, the second beta starts today. It’ll start at 9PM EST tonight and end on Sunday, October 25th at 7PM EST. This new beta will feature PS4/PC cross-platform play and a more robust suite of online features. Most important for me is the completely different roster this time around. Ryu, Cammy, Chun-Li, Birdie, Nash and M. Bison will be taking a break, as Ken, Necalli, Vega, R. Mika, Rashid and Karin star in this go-around.

Super Mario Maker Review

In the early 1980s, Nintendo designed the first Super Mario levels by hand with graph paper. Decades later, Nintendo released Super Mario Maker on the Wii U. With the use of the touchscreen on the Wii U Gamepad, players of all sorts can whip together a functional level within a matter of minutes. Is this the tool that puts Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto out of business?
