As of now, being famous enough to warrant a spot on a convention panel isn’t a goal of mine. Writing and streaming is something I do as a passion project. But if this journey somehow took me up on stage in front of an audience, here are some things I’d be interested in discussing!

Starting tomorrow and ending on Saturday (with a quick intermission on Christmas Day), each post will focus on a particular aspect of the convention experience. Rook vs. The World in Fantasy Strike
Playing as the grapple-happy stone golem, I take on a pair of online opponents in Fantasy Strike! I hope this is a much better demonstration of how fun and involved this game can be vs. my first video. Loving this game a lot and I’m hoping to have a full review up for the new year!

Based on the fantastic Yomi card game, Fantasy Strike aims to find the balance between depth and accessibility. With this being day 1 of my time with it, we spend a bit of time talking about the game’s features, play a few arcade mode matches, and I showcase my set of Yomi cards!

With the rise and popularity of games like Castles of Burgundy and Sushi Go! came the phrase “point salad”. Games of its ilk are defined by mechanics that drive players to score points through a number of different means. By the end, you’ve essentially created a point salad with different kinds of points all contributing towards your total.
Taking that phrase to its logical conclusion, AEG has published a game called Point Salad. In it, you’re collecting vegetables and salads in order to create the best tasting set of salads at the table. Is Point Salad the definitive point salad game?
NMBR 9 Review
From my life-long fascination with Tetris, to my love of the quilting-themed tile-placement game Patchwork, I seem to have a thing for arranging blocks into neat formations. NMBR 9 is yet another game that challenges players to arrange and stack blocks in order to gain the most points. Using interesting shapes and a unique scoring mechanic, does its take on a well-worn concept add something new to this gameplay mechanic?
10 Years of In Third Person: Some of My Favourite Videos and Live Streams
Video has grown to become a primary method of creating and consuming video game content. It makes perfect sense, as gaming in itself is a video-based medium. Though In Third Person has had a YouTube channel for a very long time, I squandered it with crappy webcam videos and rips of Street Fighter match vids for many years.
Many mistakes were made, but it wasn’t until this year where I was truly in a position to make the video content I wanted at an acceptable level of production quality. That said, some of the earliest videos I made with my shoestring equipment budget are still some of my faves! Here’s a few choice cuts!
