Luigi and company have had enough of the AirBNB life. After two nightmarish experiences in mansions, the crew decides to try a hotel. There’s no way a squad of ghosts would haunt a whole hotel. Right?

My journey through Luigi’s Mansion 3 recently wrapped up. Before we close things out with a full review, there’s one aspect of the game that I wanted to touch on that’s been a rare misstep in my overall experience: backtracking.
As we discussed yesterday, I’m gradually chipping away at Luigi’s Mansion 3. The game is pretty great so far, but there’s one particular section I really want to talk that can’t wait until my full review.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
From what I gather, Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t a particularly long game. And yet here I am, having owned it since launch, still just a fraction of the way through it.
A lot of things arose in the last few months that got in the way. Running the Extra Life marathon. The holidays. Writing for the site. Streaming. Creating content for the YouTube channel. Oh, and my quirk of playing only one game at a time.
What’s your game of the decade? We all share our picks towards the end of the show! Leading up to that, we cover a ton of games we’re playing, including Ring Fit Adventure, Pokemon Sword/Shield, Layton’s Mystery Journey, Has-Been Heroes, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Outer Worlds, Man of Medan, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2!

Welcome to Convention Week! We start things off with a subject that has been an annoyance since the very first convention I’ve ever been to: the line to play video games.
Each year, Fan Expo hosts an exclusive period for patrons with a deluxe pass or higher. If you have one, you can get into the show two hours early. As a deluxe pass holder, I use this time to run straight to the Nintendo booth every year. With the way things work out, this is the only time I have to play video games at this show.
[NOTE: I try my best to avoid spoilers]
Confession: I’m not very far in Luigi’s Mansion 3. Was hoping to be done before the launch, but life has a funny way of stifling one’s gaming time. For now, it takes a seat at the top of my backlog as Pokemon Sword and Shield take precedence. From the bit I’ve played, I can definitively tell you this one thing: its opening sequence is really special.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is scheduled to spook worldwide audiences on Halloween. Luckily for me, I got to play a pre-release build at Fan Expo Canada. Was it a trick or treat?
Another exciting year of gaming lies ahead! With the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a mature point in their lifespan, and rumors of their successors looming, this could be the last hurrah for our current gen hardware. Also, with the Nintendo Switch just having gotten Pokemon and Super Smash Bros., where does the platform go from here?
Lots of questions to be answered in the days to come. For now though, here’s a handful of games that I’m looking forward to playing this year!
