Before every episode of Boss Rush, I ask everyone on the show what they’ve been playing. From there, I gather B-roll footage of every game we’re talking about so that we have that visual companion to our discussion. As I was putting together the latest episode of the show, it dawned on me that I haven’t been playing much at all of late.
Pictionary Night is unfortunately not happening tonight as originally promised. I need a bit more time to pull everything together to make that game the best it can be. For now though, Jason, Mat, Jon, and I have an epic alternative!
With episode 15 of Boss Rush, we’ll be talking about some of the games we’re playing, which include Mortal Kombat 11, SteamWorld Dig 2, World of Warcraft, and Octopath Traveler. After that, we’re doing a Game of Thrones draft! Who in Westeros would you take with the first pick? You’ll have to tune in at 8:30pm-ish EST tonight to find out who we choose!

For the past few weeks, I’ve seen the name Granblue Fantasy Versus floating around the fighting game community websites I frequent. However, I didn’t really bother investigating until recently, as there’s a beta for the game happing right now. And oh my goodness, I should have had this game on my radar sooner.
Finally! We’re out of Flower Fields, but now I’m stuck in the tunnels, trying to find my way to Shiver City. Pack your winter coat just in case we make it there! Tune in at 8pm EST and let’s play more Paper Mario!

I love my original Elgato Stream Deck. It may just look like a set of buttons, but being able to program each one with a growing set of functions has streamlined my experience so much. From being able to quickly trigger the airhorn sound that starts every stream, to switching between overlays, to running elaborate game shows on Boss Rush, I can easily perform all of these functions and more without breaking the flow of the show.
If I had one wish, it would be for the Stream Deck to have more buttons. While you do get the option of adding folders to the mix, my default setup uses more than the 15 buttons available. In particular, Boss Rush can require upwards of 60 (!) buttons, making it a hassle at times to fish between folders for certain functions.
Elgato heard me. The new Stream Deck XL is out now, with a whopping 32 buttons. It’s not quite 60, but it’s more than what you’d get from running up two regular Stream Decks at once.
Long before Nintendo blazed the trail for what the modern retro mini console should be, Sega had been peddling numerous versions of a mini Genesis. Unfortunately, Sega enlisted a third-party to put the consoles together. The shoddy work of AtGames prevented these mini consoles from being anything more than bargain bin fodder.
This time, Sega promises it will be different. The upcoming Sega Genesis Mini is being developed by M2, who have handled the emulation for the Sega Ages and Sega 3D Classics collections. Assuming Sega finally gets the emulation and production quality right, is it time for me to finally pick one of these up?
We finally got out of the Flower Fields in Paper Mario! It was a close call though, as the boss fight came down to the wire! Now if I could only find my way around the sewers…
All the while, we had some great conversations about how Target failed in Canada, leaks of the mobile Mario Kart game, our hopes and dreams for E3 2019, and we continue our debate about whether all the Skittles in a bag all taste the same!

Steff and I have big dreams for this basement of ours. We want to rip out the carpet, update the walls to anything other than wood paneling, and knock down the dividing wall so that the basement is one large space. Someday, we envision it being a larger entertaining space.
In light of these plans, I’ve been reluctant to decorate down here. Didn’t want to go through the trouble of putting things up, only to have to duplicate the effort after the room has been renovated. As such, the only real decor you’ve seen of my streaming room until recently was a large Snorlax bean bag chair.
However, a couple of things have happened since we came up with our future vision for the basement. One, our priorities around the house have shifted to other projects. Two, I started taking streaming seriously. Part of taking streaming seriously is ensuring that everything you see adds to the overall experience. Snorlax is cute, but I’m no longer content with using an empty wall and an oddly-placed divider curtain as my backdrop. Recently, I finally decided to spruce the place up a bit.
