If the Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Rumors Are True, Here Are Some Characters I Want to See in the Game

Rumors are swirling about Capcom revealing Marvel vs. Capcom 4 at PlayStation Experience this weekend. Without much in the way of substantial evidence, I’m not holding my breath. However, should this be true, here are some characters I want to see in this game!

XCOM 2 Review

Remember that time in the XCOM reboot where you saved the world from the alien invasion? Whatever good you did eventually got undone. By the time XCOM 2 begins, the world has been enslaved by the aliens for many years. At this point, the XCOM group is nothing more than an underground movement fighting with scraps. With the odds worse than ever, can you muster up the will to fend off the alien forces one more time?

Up Next: Gears of War 4

With XCOM 2 in the books, it’s time to move onto the next game in my queue: Gears of War 4. While I was a huge fan of the original trilogy, Gears of War: Judgment left a bad taste in my mouth. Thankfully, it sounds like Microsoft has righted the ship on this one. Will have some thoughts on the game and maybe some video soon!

Technical Issues Mar the Console Ports of XCOM 2

Judged solely on its gameplay alone, XCOM 2 is a wonderful addition to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lineups. Building off the success of the original, this game improves on its predecessor in almost every conceivable way. Unfortunately, some glaring technical issues make this game really hard to recommend if you have the ability to play it on PC.

Out Now: XCOM 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

XCOM 2Despite my adoration for its predecessor, XCOM 2 has slipped my mind a few times now. When it was first announced as a PC-exclusive, I whined about that fact on this blog and then forgot about it. While out on honeymoon in Hawaii, I was surprised to see console versions of the games available for pre-order. After that, the game fell out of my consciousness until it showed up in the mail just now.

Lost Cities on iPhone Review

Lost Cities on iOS is the adaptation of the Lost Cities physical card game. In it, two players compete to create the best routes to five different ancient civilizations by playing numbered cards in ascending order. In short, it’s like an awesome version of head-to-head Solitaire that I’m completely smitten by.

Ports of board games to mobile devices have generally gotten better over time, though there are still no shortage of duds out there. Going into this, I would have been devastated if this port of a game I adored sucked. Does Lost Cities successfully make the jump?

Street Fighter V Ibuki (Aozaki_Kyo) vs. Rashid (jettFTW)

Aozaki_Kyo immediately caught my eye with his ridiculously high ranking. Then he caught me with a beatdown using an Ibuki that’s less than a week old. Turns out, he’s also known as KusanagiMX, who placed 3rd at Japonawa X only behind Julio Fuentes and Chris Tatarian.

After the initial shock, I would settle down and give him a better fight. However, who knows how scary he could be if he keeps practicing this character. Maybe we’ll cross paths again!

Street Fighter V F.A.N.G (skisonic) vs. Rashid (jettFTW)

Best known for his work as a fighting game commentator and as a top 8 Evo finalist in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, I just so happened to run into Skisonic in Street Fighter V ranked matches. Check out how I fared against this prevalent fighting game personality!

Countering Throw Mashers in Street Fighter V

Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed an alarming trend in the online Street Fighter V metagame. As soon as one’s opponent gets close, they mash the input for throw. By doing so, they tech an opponent’s throw attempt, throw an opponent whose blocking, or throw an opponent who tries to attack with a slower move.

As simplistic, flawed and as scrubby as this tactic is, tons of players online are using it to great success. Now that I’m playing in platinum league, I see many highly-ranked players online mashing throw every time they sense an up close and personal threat.

I want to see the community grow beyond this stupid gimmick. I’ve been doing my part to blow people up with counters when I see it, but it’s also worth spreading the word on how to counter a throw masher in Street Fighter V.

Tips for Rashid Players in Street Fighter V

Rashid is my go-to character in Street Fighter V. While he has a bad reputation among the general player base for his sub-par damage output, he’s a ton of fun to use and a deadly combatant in the right hands. If you’re looking to take a ride on the turbulent winds, maybe these tips will help improve your flight!
