Draw Something Review

Draw Something is the latest mobile game to take the world by storm. Odds are, if you’re not already playing this game, many of your friends are. I admit that I am pretty late to the party, and probably wouldn’t have joined the party at all if my girlfriend Steff hadn’t convinced me to at least give it a shot. Did I think Draw Something lived up to the hype?

Mass Effect 3 Single Player Review

The Earth is screwed. At least it appears that way when you first boot up Mass Effect 3. After your Shepard thwarted the Reapers plans in Mass Effect 1 and 2, they’re bringing the pain to your home world. While the temptation is strong to stay and protect your home world, Shepard knows the only way to victory involves him recruiting all the help he can get from across the galaxy.

Are you ready to suit up in hopes of ending the Reaper threat once and for all?

PlayStation 3D Display Review

The PlayStation 3D display is not your ordinary TV. This unit was specifically designed for gamers looking for a high-quality gaming display that supports 3D, is small enough to work in smaller spaces such as dorm rooms, all for a reasonable price. When this television came out at $500, I thought it was a decent value. However, most places now sell this at $300, which seemed like a steal to me. Combine the price with the fact that I’ve moved into a smaller space and this TV seemed like the perfect fit for me.

Having used this as my gaming TV since I moved into the condo, I thought I’d share my thoughts on it. Does this gaming-centric display stand head and shoulders above any number of other television choices on the market?

Looking for a Mass Effect 3 Review?

If you’ve been waiting for a Mass Effect 3 review, I’m sorry to keep you waiting. It’s a long game and I’m doing what I can to get through it at my own pace. Without spoiling anything, I can say that it’s a quality product, though I’m still debating in my head exactly how good it is and where it stacks up on the pantheon of Mass Effect games.

Random Memory of Playing Street Fighter II on the Sega Genesis

Did you ever play Street Fighter II on the Genesis with the default 3-button controller? I’m sure a lot of you did. Didn’t it suck to have to hit the start button every time you wanted to switch between punches and kicks? Imagine trying to sell a control scheme like that through now.

Hunger Games: Girl on Fire Review

I woke up this morning alone in an empty bed. My girlfriend, who is a huge fan of the Hunger Games books and has been anticipating the movie for months, went to a midnight screening of the movie and crashed at her parents’ place. While she was off enjoying the Hunger Games premiere, I was home alone to my own devices. Besides leveraging the limited cooking skills I have to make a dish beyond my skill level (more on this another time in an off-topic post), I picked up Hunger Games: Girl on Fire, which is currently free on iTunes. If you have even a bit of interest in the Hunger Games or the game itself, grab it now and read the review later in case you have to pay for the app in the future.

Is the game as good as the critically acclaimed books or on the same level as the movie? I can’t speak to either of those, but I can definitely tell you whether this game is worth your time.

A Look Back at WCW vs. NWO World Tour

Before WCW vs. NWO World Tour, wrestling video games were very basic. Wrestlers were cartoony, move sets were limited and they primarily offered an arcade-like experience. For video game players of that time, this genre of game was fun for what it was. However, the genre definitely was lacking in the (dare I say it) realism department. As a wrestling fan at the time, I was disappointed in the fact that most of the games in the genre had only a handful of characters, a single shared move list across all characters except for finishers, and limited use of weapons (if there were weapons at all). I wanted to play a wrestling game that felt more like I was actually playing a WWF match, rather than playing a beat-em-up that just so happens to take place inside a wrestling ring.

Then I played WCW vs. NWO World Tour.
